Somewhere I had read the numbers, but your little story brings it down to what they translate into as reality. I hadn't really realized the extent. Thanks for the reality check.

There are over three-quarters of a million prostate cancer eunuchs in the United States alone. Everyone who visits the Eunuch Archive probably knows one or (more likely) more prostate cancer eunuchs. We just don't know who they are.

As a retired academic, I have a once-a-month lunch gathering with other retired academics. Each time one or more of us talks about his current activities. Thanks for that comment. There are times I think I'm Unique (Eunuch?) and the truth is that the older you get the more likely it is to happen. Prostate cancer is an awful thing if not caught quickly and the terror that so many men have or that they feel this will emasculate them is just rubbish.

So, Jesus,

Have you ever.... you know.... felt... that ....the Eunuchs ... were ... sort of ...closing in on you?

That fascinates me.

Hash (imported) wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2008 2:50 pm Regarding testosterone, I use the "compounded variety." It's made up at the local pharmacy/apothecary in Hopewell, N.J. It comes in a tube and costs me about $115.00. I can make that last well over two months. My "t" levels vary but I keep them pretty low. The result of this low dose regimen is that I can't get my testosterone levels above 300ml. If I try to use more of the cream, it actually has a reverse affect on me. It's like I took a dose of estrogen. My penis shrinks up and I fail to get nocturnal erections. I guess my body has adjusted to the low dose of testosterone and won't accept more than usual. Hash

Sounds like at the higher dose your body is converting the T into E. You could try Arimidex (1/4 or 1/2 pill 2x a week) which prevents the armotase of T into E. You just have to make sure your E doesn't go too low or erections go bye bye until it comes up again. There is also a product called Idoplex/DIM that some guys on the hypogonadism2 Yahoo group use to control their E levels. Personally I'm on Arimidex from my Endo.

If I could be fortunate enough to have both a bilateral orchiectomy and penectomy with urethera reroute I would not make any special effort to hide the fact. However, I would not make it a point to tell everybody.

I would simply take advantage of the ability to wear snugger (in the crotch) fitting pants and shorts and even form fitting swim bottoms. I would not be afraid or ashaned to have others see that I had a smooth crotch. I would be thankful that those things were gone.

Well, I let my whole family know. In-laws, out-laws and siblings, the whole ninn yards. Only one nephew got scared. He though it was cancer related but it wasn't.

eunuch_jeremy (imported) wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2008 11:22 am Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I hope I'm putting it in the right forum.

I became a eunuch last November due to cancer. It was caught very early so I'm ok. Naturally, my wife was upset about me having cancer, as was I. Just before my surgery, she was telling one of her friends about our predicament. At one point her friend remarked: "Well, I guess that's the end of your sex life." My wife let the comment go as she was more concerned about my life in general at that point.

When my wife told me about the comment I felt a thrill of humiliation. A couple months later, my wife remarked that some people probably think I'm now impotent. I asked who and she brought up the remark by her friend.

For some reason I find the idea of women knowing I'm a eunuch and thinking that I have no more sexual abilities exciting. My wife has never explained to her friend that men can get HRT therapy so as far as I know, her friend believes I have been neutered. I meet my wife's friend regularly at social functions and as far as I can tell she doesn't treat me any differently. I always wonder what she's thinking.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? Do you think women will consciously or subconsciously treat/consider eunuchs differently than they do intact men?

thanks,

jeremy

As long as ALL of the cancer has be destroyed, then you can on on HRT. If there is any risk at all of cancer returning with the presence of T, HRT is not possible.

plix (imported) wrote: Sat Jun 14, 2008 11:46 am In my case no one other than family and the people here on the boards knows about my surgery. There really is no need to tell most of the people in my life. But if I did, I also don't see any reason to believe I would be treated all that differently by either women or men. Most people these days probably know that there is TRT available, but I still don't think most know all the effects of castration. For most T is only assoicated with sex drive and aggression. And yes, many hold false beliefs about the effects of castration, with a return to a prepubescent voice being one of the most common.

Nebido is not yet approved in the US, and I believe it is the one where something happened that is going to delay its approval by at least a couple more years. I'm not in any hurry to see it get approved because I also have concerns about how much better it can really be than old-style cyp shots (every 2-4 weeks). If anything, I'd expect it to be much worse (assuming the shots are given every several months as recommended). I am happy with my free gel and don't see any reason to change anytime soon :)

Gel works quite well for me as well, however I use a compounded gel.

I could not afford the androgel or Testim, I am not sure how hard it is to get for free, but may be an option at some point, however I hope the compounded gels stay around.

I told my ex-wife and the kids, there partners and when the grandkids become of age we will most likely tell them too. As for friends NO, except this group of friends of course.

I guess it is something you must be comfortable with there is not a right or wrong way to tell others, or not.

OH yes, the guy who does my tattoos knows, he wanted to know what that symbol was that I was having put on my arm. 🙄
