when other people know
Hello everyone,
This is my first post. I hope I'm putting it in the right forum.
I became a eunuch last November due to cancer. It was caught very early so I'm ok. Naturally, my wife was upset about me having cancer, as was I. Just before my surgery, she was telling one of her friends about our predicament. At one point her friend remarked: "Well, I guess that's the end of your sex life." My wife let the comment go as she was more concerned about my life in general at that point.
When my wife told me about the comment I felt a thrill of humiliation. A couple months later, my wife remarked that some people probably think I'm now impotent. I asked who and she brought up the remark by her friend.
For some reason I find the idea of women knowing I'm a eunuch and thinking that I have no more sexual abilities exciting. My wife has never explained to her friend that men can get HRT therapy so as far as I know, her friend believes I have been neutered. I meet my wife's friend regularly at social functions and as far as I can tell she doesn't treat me any differently. I always wonder what she's thinking.
Has anyone else had similar experiences? Do you think women will consciously or subconsciously treat/consider eunuchs differently than they do intact men?
thanks,
jeremy

Anything sexual can become sexualy stimulating.
I think many women have ony a very crude idea of what happens to men who have had a bilateral orchiectomy. Most probably think your facial hair will fall out and you will start speaking in a high pitch.
Sorry to hear about your cancer.

Hello Jeremy
I was pleased to read that your cancer was caught in time and that you're OK. No doubt you'll have already discovered that a lot of people are fascinated by eunuchs and our sexual capabilities. I assume that you're on testosterone replacement in which case there's no reason why you can't be a stud in the bedroom. I have an injection of Nebido every 12 weeks and I can perform just as well as I did before castration. Obviously I can't cause a pregnancy, but as I'm gay that was never going to be a possibility anyway. I've had more offers of sex since castration and a lot of the guys I've met have been really turned on by my lack of balls.
Don't worry about gossip from colleagues and neighbours. Probably they're annoyed because you have a better car or bigger swimming pool. You seem to have a lovely supportive wife so enjoy your life together and ignore the gossips.
Best wishes.
Will

Re: when other people know
Nebido is injectable testosterone undecanoate. I have been wondering when they would get smart and approve this stuff! This is an extremely long acting testosterone, as in shots down every 3 months apart! A monthly shot would give almost perfectly stable testosterone levels. It also has a lower conversion to estrogen than cypionate does, making it have less of a shutdown of natural testosterone production (assuming you can still produce it
) and also less water retention and many notice a slight decrease in body fat from it.

God I hope they don't approve it in the US. I'm part of a UK group for men with Hypogonadism and so many of them say this stuff does NOT work for long periods... I wonder if its like the US doctors who still suggest monthly injections (like 400mg) of Cyp and expect it to work. <SHUDDER>

Hi Mr T
I've been on Nebido for nearly 2 years now (an intra-muscular injection every 12 weeks) and I haven't noticed any problems. It has certainly been more convenient for me than organising my life around a fortnightly injection of Sustanon.

Re: when other people know
I wish I could tell some people but I am afraid it will destroy my life. My job is high profile and knowing that I'm a eunuch will most likely cause rejection and loss of respect. I just can't risk it. My wife has one friend who knows that I lost one testicle and had problems with the remaining one, but she does not know that I am a eunuch. I would like to tell her, but she might tell others. So I'm kind of stuck, at least for now.
Regarding testosterone, I use the "compounded variety." It's made up at the local pharmacy/apothecary in Hopewell, N.J. It comes in a tube and costs me about $115.00. I can make that last well over two months. My "t" levels vary but I keep them pretty low. The result of this low dose regimen is that I can't get my testosterone levels above 300ml. If I try to use more of the cream, it actually has a reverse affect on me. It's like I took a dose of estrogen. My penis shrinks up and I fail to get nocturnal erections. I guess my body has adjusted to the low dose of testosterone and won't accept more than usual. Hash

Re: when other people know
In my case no one other than family and the people here on the boards knows about my surgery. There really is no need to tell most of the people in my life. But if I did, I also don't see any reason to believe I would be treated all that differently by either women or men. Most people these days probably know that there is TRT available, but I still don't think most know all the effects of castration. For most T is only assoicated with sex drive and aggression. And yes, many hold false beliefs about the effects of castration, with a return to a prepubescent voice being one of the most common.
Nebido is not yet approved in the US, and I believe it is the one where something happened that is going to delay its approval by at least a couple more years. I'm not in any hurry to see it get approved because I also have concerns about how much better it can really be than old-style cyp shots (every 2-4 weeks). If anything, I'd expect it to be much worse (assuming the shots are given every several months as recommended). I am happy with my free gel and don't see any reason to change anytime soon

Other than your physician, there is certainly no need for anyone else to know. There are over three-quarters of a million prostate cancer eunuchs in the United States alone. Everyone who visits the Eunuch Archive probably knows one or (more likely) more prostate cancer eunuchs. We just don't know who they are.
As a retired academic, I have a once-a-month lunch gathering with other retired academics. Each time one or more of us talks about his current activities. When I described my research on voluntary eunuchs and its extension into aid for prostate cancer eunuchs, I discovered that I was one of only two of the nine men around the table with functioning testicles!
