I saw parts of the American version. It was O.K. But I liked the foreign version better. Perhaps it was the location, I don't know. I think that maybe it was the cinematography, Dave. It had a whole different cast and style. Plus there were two sequels, The Girl Who Knew Too Much and

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

Have you seen the Jesse Stone series .. 8 movies starring Tom Sellick. I LOVE the cinematography in that one, too.

I saw both the American and the Swedish version of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" movie and read the book.

I didn't read "Fire" and Hornet's Nest" as books and I didn't watch the Swedish movie version.

I thought the Swedish version of "Dragon Tattoo" was more honest to the book and a better telling of the story. Not that I didn't enjoy the American version. THey were different visions of the same material.

My one criticism of the Swedish version is that to watch it you have to stare at the subtitles and read fast. That's work.

There is a Swedish version that has been dubbed in English. Very well done.

The characters, Bloomkvist & Salander as well as the players, Craig & Mara were dynamic together.

Too bad about the cat.

I wonder how the movie did in after box office profits.

Walt Disney's Fantasia was his only box office failure, I suspect after box office residuals covered any losses and then some.

I agree River. Fantasia is truly an amazing movie. When it came out people just didnt understand it, when I first saw it I was stumped like whats all this abstract doing in a film cuz thats just it. At least for me I belong to the generation where we best know disney for its cartoons and fantasia wasn't your typical Peter Pan, Bambi, Snowwhite, Cinderella etc....

It wasn't til I was 13-14ish that I started seeing Fantasia for what it really was.I think it was a great idea to release in 2000.

Get a 50 buck DVD. hook it up to your internet and then subscribe to netflicks and watch on your TV. Netflicks is 8 bucks a month. WELL worth the money... you can watch them as often as you like. There are also some very good movies on Netflicks, and some not so good.

You choose. I liked Severence, Naked Fear, and Serious Moonlight. The last one was HILARIOUS, the first two are thrillers, with severence being the goriest. Naked Fear has you cheering for the naked heroine long before she goes psycho and takes care of her pursuer... Lots of other movies, those where the three that came immediately to mind...

For "art's" sake, wouldn't it be wonderful if Danial Craig maintained his fee to Mara's?

Hollywood greats sometimes did jobs for "art's sake".

Edward G. Robinson comes to mind and some of the cast of Soylent Green.
