the pampered poodle

Post by Dave (imported) »

We all know that Leona Helmsley left $12million to her poodle, Well the butlers taking care of the dog now put a lemon wedge in the toilet so the water is fresh when the dog drinks.

Gotta love a rich dog.

A friend of mine says

A dog's life is short. Who gets what the dog leaves?

Technically, one would leave it to a trust dedicated to the care of the animal. Disposition of trust assets would have to be dictated, as well, after the dog cacked.

In her case, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that once the dog died, the money was to be flushed, burned, or otherwise destroyed.

You are little people. Leona don't help little people. That's the attitude that made her famous (infamous).

I had a relative who lived on 41st street opposite the United Nations (The apartment complex is called Tudor City). and the Helmsley Speer corporation bought the complex. They decided to put a new apartment building on the site of the park that sat between the buildings. The little old ladies (all retired, living on rent control with blue-white hair types. Took hammers and removed the barricades that big tough union workmen installed around the park.

When Harry Helmsley (Leona's husband) ordered them to stop the old ladies, the workers laughed at him. What construction guy would yank plywood and hammer from a fiesty little old lady and not go to a bar in shame afterwards?

Helmsley Speer lost that battle. Harry and Leona just crapped all over the not-rich. Treated them like dirt.

PS - if you know New York and the UN, this is the apartments that you go up the ISAIAH staircase from First Avenue. the First Avenue sidewalk is where they hold demonstrations at the UN. Carved into the wall is "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

You go up the stair case and look down 43rd, turn left and walk over 42nd and then meet 41st, turn right down 41st to go to 2nd avenue. The Ford Foundation building sits on 42nd street between 1st avenue and 2nd avenue.

If you don't know New York, all that means nothing to you.

A old lady who lived not far from me, died leaving her estate to her cat about 4 years ago. It was national news over here in the UK.

Her money was to pay for some one to go into the house each day to feed the cat,

Only on its death could the remains of the estate be spilt between her two remaining sisters,

It was such a shame to hear the cat got run over one night shortly after the will was read.

If I was one of the beneficiaries it would not have lasted that long
