Public eavesdropping

The first item I read every morning in the San Francisco Chronicle is a small piece of the column by Leah Garchik. It's always centered below her name and has a colored background to stand out from the rest of the page. It's titled Public eavesdropping, and includes a brief comment overheard in a public place, who submitted the item, and something about who said it and where. Today's contribution was
