Trademarks

Post by An Onymus (imported) »

I was recently asked whether the name of a website I administer, is trademarked. (It isn't, at present.) This got me to thinking whether various websites I frequently access are trademarked--one of which, of course, would be the Eunuch Archive. So, this is just a question--is the archive trademarked? While it seems unlikely that you would ever see the huddled masses stomping around in Eunuch Archive T shirts (though it would be a good way to get some double takes), and therefore the name probably isn't worth a whole lot commercially, trademarking is a good way to keep people from using your site name in ways that might be considered undesirable. You can't copyright a website name, as far as I know, so I would assume that registering the name as a trademark, is the best protection for a site. The only negative would be, it might make you look commercial.
