Sure there is.
It is called APPENDECTOMY and it is done before APPENDICITIS occurs.
It is a bit like preventing testicular cancer by castration only it is done A LOT more often.

Yes, that is what I was thinking of.
I'm not sure if they do preemptive appendectomies so much anymore, though; I couldn't find much information about it in a web search. Maybe they're more reluctant to cut things off these days.
