Surgical castration has a somewhat complicated aftercare associated with it. The scrotum has to be cut open and then sewn up, and it's going to be draining fluid for two weeks afterwards, and there may be restrictions against washing it.
In comparison, injecting lactic acid into the testicles seems simpler - I hear that the testicles will shrivel up and be absorbed by the body, and there won't be any wounds to heal. (Provided that there isn't too much lactic acid injected, which causes problems such as the acid eating through the scrotum, etc. which happened to Scottie.)
So why don't the orchiectomy surgeons such as Dr. Kimmel employ the lactic acid injection method? It seems easier to recover from, if done correctly.
