Testicle-[Eating] Festival and Gay Pride in Nebraska

Hello All,

Neither of these are large events and if you are underwhelmed, don't blame me.

The Round the Bend Steakhouse in Ashland NE, is holding their annual Testicle Festival on June 19-20. Their website and Facebook pages don't specify if the Rocky Mountain Oysters ( a euphemism for animal nuts) are from cattle or hogs. Sorry, but I'm quite sure that there won't be any human ones. Any volunteers?? If you attend, keep in mind that the festival is “Family Friendly” whatever that means.

The restaurant is near Ashland, NE, which is about half-way between Omaha and Lincoln.; 40 miles from the Omaha airport, 30 from downtown, and about the same from Lincoln. To get there you'll need a rental car, or hook-up with someone for the ride.

I can''t tell you what bull nuts taste like or their texture. I grew up on a farm/ranch and each spring Dad and I would castrate the calves. My Mother would always cook some. She would always slice them very thin, give them a heavy coat of breading, and then fry them in bacon grease. All you tasted was the breading, and she would cut the balls so thin that you couldn't tell what the texture is like.

My famiy didn't raise hogs so I don't know what they are like, but I expect they would be similar.

The Nebraska Gay Pride celebration is the same weekend. The parade is in Council Bluffs (just across the river) and the rally is in mid-Omaha.
