The eagle

This is a soldier movie about honor and family and all sorts of stuff set in the Roman Empire about the time of the Emperor Hadrian.

It seems that after a Roman Legion was lost to the raging hordes of berserker fighters in northern Britain, Hadrian had a wall built to keep them up here and the Roman rulers down in Londonium (or whatever they called it)...

However, someone lost the Eagle Standard and lost honor and such.

So Marcus Flavius Aquila (Channing Tatum) suffers his growing years dreaming of his dead father and when he gets to Britain, shit happens and eventually, he takes a slave Escha (Jamie Bell) into the north to retrieve the Eagle.

They succeed in fine and enjoyable style with a few rip-roaring battles and swordplay. A good adventure film.

I want to point to Jamie Bell (remember him?)

He was the geeky, scrawny, all arms and legs dancing boy in BILLY ELLIOT. Now he plays a slave under Rome and dressed down, so to speak near nudity. My has that boy grown up into a nice looking stud. He also has a BAFTA for Best Actor for BILLY ELLIOT.
