Many of you who have interests in body piercing/body modifications know the name Jim Ward, the “Father of Modern Body Piercing,” and Gauntlet Enterprises the world's first body piercing company. Almost all of modern body piercing trace back to Jim's work.

During a near fatal illness, Jim lost Gauntlet to bankruptcy and with it all its intellectual property, the main history of modern body piercing. During the last decade, BME (who hosts the EA website) has been publishing a series by Jim telling his and piercing’s history.(available from BME for free here: http://gauntletenterprises.com/BME/jimward-all.html)

Jim recently regained the intellectual history (through the kindness of an anonymous donor) and has combined his series with historic pictures and documents from the iconic PFIQ (Piercing Fans International Quarterly) magazine to produce the definitive history of piercing, Running the Gauntlet—An Intimate History of the Modern Body Piercing Movement. The book was introduced to great acclaim at the recent Professional Piercing Convention in Las Vegas.
