Tamoxifen to reduce/kill libido and erections

Post by lowlibonly (imported) »

Any thoughts regarding if Tamoxifen by itself is good enough to reduce/kill libido and erections. Thank you.

I'm not sure exactly how Tamoxifen would reduce libido and ability, other than maybe through its anti-estrogen effects. Some have speculated that inappropriate E levels in men (either too high or too low) cause libido issues and ED. If such speculations are true, then it's possible Tamoxifen could cause the effects you describe. However, I don't believe it is a method commonly used by the members here. Low E in men has also been speculated to raise the risk for heart disease, cholesterol problems, osteoporosis, and possibly other problems as well. Men do need some E in their bodies.

A friend of mine is result of cancer. He was having lots of ED problems E levels. 10 mg brought the level down, no longer a problem. But when his levels go too low, ED issues resurface. It is suggestive...

I have spent numerous years trying to destroy my genitals because I have a high libido and resented the trouble it got me into.

I really like being a man, being muscular, etc. but it is so stressful to be so horny all the time. So my main issue was high libido.

I finally got help by taking SSRI (anti-depressants) which I recommend people to try. However, after five years of taking them I decided that they did make me feel disconnected and not as mentally sharp as I usually was. So I stopped that three years ago.

I started taking tamoxifen to stay lean. I realized that it also helped me quite a bit with my libido problem -- but not in the way you would think.

This is really important -- taking Tamoxifen somehow made me stop resenting my high libido. Tamoxifen will actually increase libido (because your hormones can't act as estrogen and so the balance of your natural hormones becomes testosterone). But I didn't want castration any more.

I definitely recommend trying it if you are hetero male orientation that likes being a man except for high libido.

The only way to explain it is that maybe the natural estrogen somehow makes us uncomfortable with our libido. When Tamoxifen blocks that somehow we become comfortable with it.

You know how other guys all seem okay with their libido, don't mind being fairly lecherous and don't mind masturbating and such. These were all things that I found uncomfortable before, and not anymore.

Anyway, I take 10mg a day every day. I now masturbate twice a day and don't care. I don't get post-coital depression any more. I look at girls lustfully and don't feel bad about it.

All I can say is I think it sort of makes you comfortable with your maleness. Definitely try it.

The other side effect (I think positive) is it makes you stronger, leaner, more muscular, and more energetic. The amount you ejaculate is much more. The down side is that you will also feel a bit more aggressive -- I actually like this, but maybe others wouldn't.

I am a 24 year old man who is 5'10", weight 150-155 lbs, and have 8% body fat. I worked hard to acheive my fitness goal and physically I feel great and am proud of my apperence. I too am bothered by my libdo. I masturbate at least 3 times a day and on my worst days somewhere between 7 and 10 times a day. If bad days are consecutive my penis is often sore and swollen. I've done this for so long I don't even ejaculate most of the time. Since my masturbation is always accompinied by flithy porn I always feel like a peice of shit afterwards and sometimes even think about killing myself. I purchased tamoxifen and will begin taking it. I was hoping that it would reduce my libdo enough so that my self control could be strong enough to fit my libdo. I don't know how I feel about just not being bothered by it. That isn't the result I desire. I chose this drug because it won't change your body, but if it doesn't work I will have to go with something that will. Thank you for the useful information.

I have been taking Tamoxifen for several years now. Earlier, I took Androcur to keep down my libido. It worked, but caused a number of side effects which I could not live with. So, I stopped Androcur. I think the 4 years of Androcur has made its effects pretty much permanent.

While taking both meds together, I got zero libido. I was able to reduce dosages for both meds to a very low maintenance level.

But after I stopped Androcur, I had to continue Tamoxifen because within days after stopping Tamoxifen, my nipples and breasts would ache and try to grow, which I want to prevent. So, currently, I am taking 10 mg/day.

My libido remains very low. I think my equilibrium state is getting off once every week or two, but I can go on as long as a month before needing to get off without feeling frustrated. I can have sex without cumming and be perfectly happy.

I can get erections though not as strong as before, and reasonable amount of ejaculation. I attribute this to Tamoxifen more so than weakening of the Androcur effects over time.

I'd like to point out a correction to what plix said. According to all the medical information I found to date, Tamoxifen does not cause low estrogen. It replaces estrogen in estrogen-receptors. For cells such as those of the male chest and nipples, they don't get the real estrogen and therefore won't grow out. (As such, Tamoxifen was sometimes used to prevent development of "bitch tits" but bodybuilders.) But when it binds to the bone cells, it helps prevent osteoporosis.

According to the literature that comes with Tamoxifen, a side effect could be low libido. But each person's mileage is different.

Yes, this is correct and very important. Tamoxifen is pretty magical because it blocks estrogen (by binding to the receptors) for female tissue (like breasts) but acts as estrogen for other things (like bones).

So it is very targeted, and can actually help your bone density quite a bit. I've taken it for years with no adverse effects, and I weight train very heavily and do mixed martial arts and boxing and have had no problem with bones.
