Incredible Boric Acid

Post by nullorchis (imported) »

WHO KNEW.

Boric acid. "safe" as table salt, yet in certain quantities it will cause testicles to atrophy.

"Long term exposure to boric acid may be of more concern, causing kidney damage and eventually kidney failure (see links below). Although it does not appear to be carcinogenic, studies in dogs have reported testicular atrophy after exposure to 32 mg/kg bw/day for 90 days. This level is far lower than the LD50.[4]"

Note that the article says "after exposure", not "consumption".

Not sure just what exposure means; on the dog's skin, scrotum, blown into the air. A little vague.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boric_acid

Apparently if a human consumes 5 to 20 grams (per kilogram of weight) it will cause death. That is a lot of boric acid. A mere 32 milligrams will shrink a dogs balls. Yet it is found in all kinds of products. Even in Silly Putty, insecticides, industrial processes. It touches our skin, we breathe it every day. It is now recognized as dangerous to developing fetus.

Yet, as with many other ball busting chemicals, we are immersed in them every day. And men wonder why they have ED and their balls are shrinking and have become desensitized. Chemicals dude! Caustic chemicals.

Here's a bunch more info. It seems that "exposure" can include direct skin contact and contact with the gonads, but also ingestion.

I've researched this more and DEFINITELY do not take it for castration. At the level of castration, it also wrecks your kidneys and probably damages liver as well.

Stupidly, there are people that take borax daily as a health regimen. For some reason crazy people figure that something you can use to disinfect your floor and kill ants will "kill" all the bad things inside you. I found one site where people take borax daily in order to counteract the danger they perceive from flouride in the water (why do they happily take one chemical while being suspicious of another). Anyway, on that site, there was one guy (from my hometown actually) who wrote this:

"04/15/2009: Dave from Surrey, BC writes: "I slowly went from 1/32 teaspoon to 1/4 teaspoon dose borax to remove fluoride from the body. I quit after about 2 days on the 1/4 teaspoon dose. I mixed it properly in pure water according to the directions that I found here. I had to go off of the borax due to aches and pains in the testicles, kidneys, and head. I was very frightened, especially about that kidney pains. Unfortunately, the pains indicated damage. I now, months afterwards, have pain in the kidneys every day, and I have actually LOST almost all of my sex drive. The pains indicated damage that seems permanent. Being prediabetic, perhaps I shouldn't have risked kidney damage!!!! But I miss my sex drive more. It's gone, and borax is not only as toxic as salt to me. Not by far.""

This is very consistent with boron poisoning.

Anyway, while it is likely effective at castration, it will wreck your other organs and that just isn't worth it.

I've used a boron compound (will check tomorrow which one) dissolved in water to spray on structural timbers in my loft, to kill and prevent woodworm. It is said that it is safe to approach after one hour.

If memory serves me correctly...

When I lived in Arizona we used a product called "Roach Proof" that was mostly boric acid powder. We spread it along baseboards in the house/apartment and on top of pipes to kill roaches. It worked good too.

Also boric acid is added in small amounts to silver when it is being cast to prevent is from foaming and developing air bubbles as it cools.

No way am I going to take that stuff.

Boric acid, H3BO3, was used as a disinfectant and eyewash; in dry powder form it is extremely toxic to ants and cockroaches. Borax is sodium tetraborate Na2B2O5(OH)4.8H2O; they are entirely different chemicals. The flame retardant was probably sodium octaborate (Na2B8O13) or something similar. The human body contains about 18 milligrams of boron, losing and taking in about 2 milligrams per day. Plants require boron and boron has been known to revive non-productive olive trees. Because it is not found in semen or in human sex hormones, boron probably has no direct effect on the testes, but boron poisoning can damage the kidneys and circulatory system and so produce pain and lack of libido.

Glad so many have posted warnings about Boric Acid. It was never my intention to promote it as something anyone would take. I was trying to highlight why we all (gay, straight, or eunuch-wannabes) should avoid it. The main thing is to look at labels when you buy any powder or liquid. KNOW what is in stuff. The manufacturer puts on legally required warnings but few pay attention. Pay attention. Read and heed the labels. Look up chemicals on the internet to see what they can do to you. It is all very complex, complicated, and only YOU can look out for you. Do not expect the government or business to look out for or care for you. (EG: Let the buyer beware !!!)
