Mexican Food

Post by moi621 (imported) »

First it was MacDonalds.

The Golden Arches arriving in Europe in the Mid Seventies.

<sigh>

Made me wonder -

Those Members in the "Old World",

Do You Have Mexican Food, yet?

Please let me know and what you think of it.

Thanks

Curious 💡 Moi

A Problem may be what, passes for Mexican Food.

In Russia, a successful chef learned to cook it from a

Swedish cook, neither had traveled to an area where it

might be more prevalent.

Yoli here,

I once asked a visitor from Darkest Africa, some sort of witch doctor here to attend an AMA meeting, if he was familiar with mexican food.

"Ah, yes, I learned of it when a couple of mexican tourists wandered into my tribal area." he replied. "I even learned to prepare mexican food!"

"Really?" I asked. "Have you a favorite recipe?"

"Oh yes...Take one medium mexican, cut into bite-sized pieces and..."

That's when I fainted.

(On the other hand that might go a long way in discouraging illegal immigration.)

Two cannibals were talking one day. The one cannibal says, "I really don't feel like having my mother-in-law for dinner tonight." The other cannibal says, "Then just eat the noodles."

Bad I know!

One would think that sharing a border with Mexico I would see true Mexican food readily available but generally what we have is Tex-Mex cuisine. To get the real thing you either have to go to Mexico or live near relatively high concentrations of Mexican populations. Fortunately for me there are many Latinos in my area so I get the best Mexican food there is. I also enjoy, Philippine, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Costa Rican restaurants where I live.

I haven't been to Europe for some 8 years so there may be Mexican eateries around but there weren't any (none that I saw) at that time.

Two cannibals caught some poor fellow and agreed that one would begin eating at the feet, the other at the head, and they'd meet in the middle. A while later the one who'd begun at the head called down to his dinner "date" and asked how he was doing, to which the other replied "Fine! I'm having a ball!" at which point the other cannibal cried "Hey! You're eating too fast!"

The above abomination courtesy of, of all people...none other than Ash(leigh)!

For some reason, craving Mountain Oyters. (I really DO like them and they are available at a small cafe near the main ranch.)

Two cannibals were eating a clown and one cannibal turns to the other and asks, "Does this taste funny?"

You Canadians! Your idea of field gear is a small axe to whack the other guy in the leg in case of bear and then take off like hell.

I was once trying to find a place in Spain via the internet where to eat breakfast. You see the common complaint from us "Mexicans" is that we just cannot for the life of us figure out where and what to eat in Spain. We do better in France as a matter of fact. And also Mexicans and Chinese seem to be the two major groups of people that are really big into eating a good breakfast too. I came to the conclusion that if you want a good breakfast in Europe the best thing to do is to go into the nearest Chinatown and find a place there. A regular Chinese restaurant won't do because they're catering to the dinner crowd and probably won't have breakfasts. The English also seem to have a bit of a tradition about eating a proper breakfast too. I'd probably like to eat breakfast in a pub in Gibraltar sometime. Anyway in my research I was thinking that I had found a good restaurant in Madrid, España (Ethpanya). I noticed "huevos rancheros" on their advertisement and was wondering how the Spanish make theirs. Finally after a litlle bit of digging I found a menu and read the ingredients (which can vary among all Mexicans and Hispanics) but this seemed just too familiar with me so I looked at the other choices on the menu and it was totally like Mexico City or something. But they didn't open until later in the morning anyway catering to the dinner crowd. Apparently there are Mexicans in Spain somewhere. I'd probably be told where to go myself if I was there even though I'm light-skinned and thus be able to find them real easy. But as far as Mexican restaurants go I still haven't quite figured out if Taco Bell is one or not.
