This comes from a discussion in a coffee house during the last week. Someone mentioned that a lot of singers and musicians had died relatively young, and we came up with this list, approximately. I'm sure somebody can find more names for the list. All of these people were famous to some degree, all died before they were age fifty-five, a lot of them before they were forty. Some were killed in airplane crashes, some overdosed, but they were all dead at a relatively young age.
Hank Williams
Buddy Holly
Bobby Darin
Elvis Presley
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
Gary Lewis (of the Playboys)
Florence Ballard (of the Supremes)
Elvis Presley
Marvin Gaye
Bob Marley
John Denver
Cass Elliott (of the Mamas and Papas)
Judy Garland
Luther Vandross
Ricky Nelson
Michael Jackson
The arts have always been hard on those who pursued them. Masaccio died when he was 27, Raphael when he was 37, Giorgione at age 32 or 33, Modigliani at 36, Boccioni at 34, Watteau at 36, Caravaggio at 38. But, then, Michelangelo lived to be 88 and Picasso made it to 91. Picasso is reported to have slept with at least 3000 women, Michelangelo with none.

3000 women in 91 years. Wow. I had better get to humping or I will be left with such a mundane life.

...O.K., but remember, it is NOT the QUANITY, but the QUALITY that counts.
