I am scheduled to have a biopsy done on both my testicles. Both are atrophied and very firm. Hopefully this will be a prelude to having them both removed. My immediate Quandry is anesthetic to be used. The urologist wants to use a general anesthetic while I think a local would suffice and be far less costly and less hassle,
Has anyone here had a biopsy under local or general anesthetic?

Re: Testicle biopsy
Of MORE importance than local, general, or spinal anesthetic is:
WHY is a biopsy being done? If this is to determine if there is a benign or malignant cancer tumor ask more questions, get a second opinion.
If there is malignant cancer, doing a biopsy can possibly cause the cancer to spread beyond the testes should any cancer cells be let loose. In cases of possible cancer the safest method is bilateral orchiectomy.

Re: Testicle biopsy
Why bi-lateral? Everyone I've know to have testicular cancer in one testicle has only had that one removed.
{thinks} I don't know the rate of second occurrence after surgery on the first incident. Is it very significantly higher that first occurrence? High enough to justify the pre-emptive removal of a currently healthy testicle?

Re: Testicle biopsy
Clys,
Could you give us more specific details? Why did your testicles atrophy? It's not something that normally happens unless there is trauma to the testicles. Did you aggravate the condition in any way? Do you desire to become a eunuch? We are here to help you.

Re: Testicle biopsy
I read your bio.
Injecting Vodka (or anything else) into your testicles is insanely dangerous. PLEASE stop that and talk to your doctor honestly about whats going on. Talk to your wife as well and seek some help with this before you really hurt yourself.
If you want to be more submissive ? Fine! You don't need to hurt or kill yourself in the process.

Re: Testicle biopsy
Cancaer is not an issue as they don't do biopsies if cancer is suspected until after the testicle is removed. I can assure you that injecting 100 proof vodka into a testicle is not life threatening- at least if done in small quantities-5 ml or less. I think all of your irrational fear of this is based on heresay rather than facts or experience.
But thanks for everyone addressing my question about about local or general anesthetics.
