Midwest Mom

Post by talula »

This will probably be the last greetings offered for this year so lets get it done.

Come one, come all to the Midwest Mom (meetings of minds) to be held near Minneapolis/St. Paul August 9th.

Come see the infamous Red Nun bobbing for live saltwater crabs. Watch the incredable Riverwind as he dares dangling from the treetops to get that perfect internet connection. Awe in wonder as I.E. farts and blows a hole in the side of a house.

Hehehe

Seriously, you dear reader should be here, the space is there for you, please come.

A GRAND TIME WILL BE HAD BY ALL!

I've attended MoMs from Portland, Oregon to Washington, DC. All have been tremendous fun. I've seen the guest list for this one (at least those who have responded so far) and it promises to be the best yet. Be there if you can.

Drop a <Private Message> to Bobbie to be put on the mailing list. He'll send you details as to time and place – beginning with a pre-MoM BBQ at the Convent, followed by a Wine+Cheese in the motel room that Paolo and I will be sharing, before we even get to the main event in the neighboring homes and back yards of Talula and Riverwind – more BBQ and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning.

In and around all of the feasting and drinking, there will be an incredible amount of conversation and laughter.

For any of the squeamish, there hasn't been a show-and-tell at any of the MoMs to date. We're all there for the hugs and camaraderie.

Seeing this event alone would make the trip worthwhile! 😄

Just hold off on the dangling until after the food has been prepared, River. Folks, Riverwind is a terrific cook.

This will be my very first Mom and I can hardly wait! I am very fortunate in that I have met a number of the members who will be attending. They are very caring folks who are lots of fun to be with, besides. I have never felt more accepted for who I am than by people in this group.

If you can possibly attend, I strongly urge you to do so. It will be a good time spent among terrific people. I missed last year's Midwest MoM and I later regretted it.

Telling tales out of school.... Danya was one of the squeamish ones last year. Part of the gathering was held only a short walk from her house, but she was concerned about meeting EA members face-to-face.

The first time any of the Archive members visited me at home (Riverwind and Sag111 visited on the same day), my wife was absolutely irate when I told her that they were coming. How could I invite such scary people to HER house?!?

As the two of them were pulling out of the driveway after 13 hours of conversation and laughter, my wife turned to me and asked, "Why can't you have more friends as nice as they are?"

Jesus, I am glad you pointed out my own unease about attending last year's MoM. That was founded on my ignorance which, I can happily report, became a non-issue many months ago much to my own benefit.

All I want to add is, please don't let the same thing keep any of you from attending. I feel confident that any newcomers will very quickly feel the welcome and be comfortable. I won't let anything interfere with my attending this year's festivities.

Hugs to all,

Danya

Once again, my schedule is getting crowded with things that are going to keep me at home in August. (Darn it! I'm *supposed* to be retired, and therefore free to travel.) I'm not at all sure that I can make it as the travel time to Minnesota turns it into a multi-day adventure that conflicts with other previously scheduled appointments. (Bah!)

I am very pleased that we have some new members attending this year. Several new ones have signed up in the past two weeks. More people means more experience, more stories, and what so many want MORE HUGS.

Hard to believe that I will be arriving along with several others at ground zero in three weeks either today or tomorrow. Will be the Eunuch Archive invasion of the of the North.

While I did attend the dinner I was also one of those worried it would turn into some sort of "Show us your balls (or lackof)" and called Jesus at his hotel to just be SURE it was safe. ;) I want to say that it was FAR less weird then my family get togethers which might not be saying much... So let me just say I had a great time and only regret not being able to put all the faces to names. Maybe we should print name tags with our Avatars? Hummmm Now I'm suddenly regretting choosing the great (and dangerous) Mr T as mine....

At least Bobbie only has to worry about Ken and Barby being angry with him ... Or perhaps GI Joe with Kung Fu Grip?!
