I can't say if its the Tamoxifen or the injections or a combination of the two but I now have what can be characterized as low libido. More so than when I was on Androcur but much less than when I was on it. The only way to find out is to try it for some time.

Tamoxifen will increase libido, not reduce it. It tricks your body into thinking it has enough estrogen and so your body will produce more testosterone. Tamoxifen is used by bodybuilders to kick-start testosterone production after a steroid cycle (otherwise there is a delay before the testicles start producing again).

I take Tamoxifen constantly now for several years. It makes me extremely virile. However, I find that the quality of the libido is different. Instead of feeling like an "anxious" sort of horniness, rather you feel comfortable with the horniness, a feeling of "I'm the man". You know how lots of guys are really horny but don't seem troubled by it? It's like that. I recommend tamoxifen for any guys who still identify as males who don't want to be totally eunuch or transgender. I get mine from xlpharmacy.com and have found them to be reliable.

For actually lowering libido without going for full chemical castration I would suggest Vitex (chasteberry herb). It works by raising prolactin which tricks your body into thinking it just had sex. It works quite well for me, and I use it when I'm on business trips to avoid the temptation to hire escorts. The only downside is that it has the feeling of "post-coital depression" you get after sex -- you don't really feel like exercising and such. Another advantage of Vitex is that you can last a lot longer during intercourse. It can as much as double your endurance. I guess for guys that have trouble getting it up, then this would make that worse, but for I like the stamina effect.

Anyway, for me (who's had a lifetime of struggle against libido but likes being manly), I find a regimen of tamoxifen daily plus occasional cycles of Vitex is pretty effective.

The other thing I will mention is masturbation. All through my life I've always felt like masturbation was a "cop out". To me it meant I had failed in finding a woman to satisfy me. However, over time you can come to realize masturbation can be a tool for controlling libido -- yes you are still horny and have to masturbate, but you can circumvent all the other problems with libido control (i.e. helps reduce porn addiction, use of prostitutes, sexual impropriety). Seriously, if libido is a problem, try masturbating at the onset of of the horniness rather than letting it progress into a problem.
