I wrote the following to a PMPal on the 13th by way of explaining my tardiness in replying to PMs. I thought some here might enjoy same, soooo....
"Yes, I've seen your messages but time has been in short supply. I hereby promise to read and respond to your previous missive within the next 48 hours.
Actually, it's been more a matter of domestic matters than the office or avocations that has been the culprit.
Ash(leigh) has been away on BG's business much of the time and I have been left to prepare the Big House (hiding the two Sybian "riding toys" and other "adult" items,) for a three-and-a-half week stay by members of WOBG's extended family who will use the place as a base of operations during their vacation from colder weather in their home state.
I've had to have the place gone over with a fine-toothed comb, stock the pantry with food and beverage for six guests, try to arrange a WiFi setup, decide where to park their Motor Home (they'll use the house Suburban while here,) arrange boarding for their dog AND two cats, make reservations at some of the posh restaurants, arrange tickets to a Spurs game or two, get the coastal cabin ready for them to use for five days, get the main ranch's house ditto for a couple of days there, and plan "activities" such as horseback riding, etc, while they're at the ranch, fishing in the saltwater while they're at the coast, and the list goes on and on.
I'm happy to do all this, mind you, but it has consumed me increasingly as their arrival looms.
Luckily, I won't have to shepherd them most of the time as Ash(leigh) will be their hostess at the coast and the ranch.
We've arranged for a cook/housekeeper (a long-time and trusted family friend,) to be in attendance in the Big House as well.
Sooooooo... you can see that your adoring enamorata has been a bizzy bee as of late.
Yes, I DO love History (except that which is unfolding now as Osama Bin Obama sets about destroying our freedom,) and I'd love for us to be able to chat re same over wine and good eats...Alas!
For now, content yourself with knowing that I am not ignoring you by design or desire. It's simply a matter of "So much to do. So little Yoli." 'K?"
Now, today's update:
"The "mob" arrived yesterday and I've got them to look after until March 5th at the earliest. They may stay a bit longer. I can handle it.
All the preps went off w/o a hitch and those among them that had never seen BG's home and grounds were bugeyed from the time they turned up the long driveway until they finally went to bed last night.
Although I most certainly do not own one inch of the place I do admit to an almost proprietary pride in it.
We had a "simple supper" of cocktails, several Mexican dishes, including Flan (Mexican Creme Brule) for dessert and they were blown away. Of course, given their Yankee-fied innards there might have been some "blowing" under the covers during the night. Should have dosed them all with Beano(TM) before they took the first bite...Ya' think?
The dip in the heated pool was a treat for them too.
Today, thus far, I've taken them to breakfast at a Cracker Barrel and they're all gearing up to do the obligatory trip to The Alamo. I'm skipping that and have retained a van from a car service to take them there. From there they'll wander on foot over to RiverCenter Mall and see "Alamo, The Price of Freedom" at the IMAX therein, then meet me and we'll stroll over to the RiverWalk for lunch. (I'll be downtown at the office, y' see.)
Post lunchie-poo I'll return to the office and they'll be picked up by another van and delivered to The Witte Museum (they like that sort of thing, as do I.) and after a couple of hours I'm gonna meet them there and lead the convoy to see Fort Sam Houston, then dash away, dash away, dash away all...to home.
After a short nappy for those who wish/need it, we will swim a bit (clothed, oddly enough,) sacrifice the flesh of animals (all slain by me) over charcoal and then I will repair to my slave quarters for the night after giving them ANOTHER course on how to operate the entertainment systems and showing them where the chalk for the pool cues is kept.
Tomorrow, Ash(leigh) will herd them down to BG's coastal cabin and they'll be taken over to Corpus Christi to tour USS Lexington (a WW2 aircraft carrier,) the Texas State Aquarium, etc, then back to the cabin for drinkies, seafood, and so to bed.
The troop will be "at sea", weather and motion sickness permitting, for part of the day on Wednesday. Ash(leigh) will see to the purchase of out-of-state licenses so that those who wish can fish for some our marine species. BG's big blue-water sportfishing boat has been fueled, armed, and crewed for the occasion. It has been under charter most of the time during the last few years and that more than pays for the upkeep and other nagging stuff listed among The Joys Of Boat Ownership.
After a few days of coastal fun, they'll be back here for two days to rest, treat sunburn, and make ready to spend some time at the main ranch. I've told the foreman to give the horses a severe talking-to re being fractious with our Yankee friends.
Will update as news breaks.
Stay under control!"
Mind you, I'm not complaining. Ash(leigh) is carrying her share of the burden and the guests, all six of them, are nice folks.

NEAU!
The party consists of two married couples and the adolescent offspring of one of the couples. They're all very nice and somewhat dazzled by their experiences so far. They make no demands and express gratitude where appropriate.
As I type they are poolside, age-appropriate beverages in hand, salivating at the aroma of roast wild pork and venison emanating from the pit, and being entertained by a pretty darned good Mariachi group that Ash(leigh) retained, one of BG's local cousins, and two great neighbors. Dinner, on a wild-game and seafood theme (Thanks to Yoli, Terror of Field, Forest, Lake, Sea, and Stream) will be served soon but I'll have time for another Manhattan once I wrap up my Email correspondence and this stuff.
The Mariachi guys (and one delightfully slightly chubby, but sexy, female fiddler) will join us for dinner. One of the two trumpeters is one hot dude and one of the visiting women has been giving him "The Look". Her hubby is 3/4 blitzed and might not notice some after-dinner play...Hmmmm, better charge the camera.
They all greatly enjoyed today's activities and were appropriately reverent at the Alamo, according to one of them, and they were thrilled by the RiverWalk despite the chilly weather.
Le Menu:
Avocado Stuffed with Crab Meat
Pit Roasted Tenderloin of Wild Piggie
Deep-fried Catfish, caught at the ranch ("A River Runs Through It"
Quail, cooked in White Wine, Mushroom Gravy, and some seasonings.
Steamed Broccoli with Melter ButtAH and Lemon.
Wild Rice
Garlic Bread
Cheesecake with a drizzle of Chambord (French raspberry lik-koor
Choice of wines and beers.
TUMS(TM)
ROLAIDS(TM)
Pepto-Bismol(TM)
... and I didn't have to lift a finger 'cept to do the garlic bread and stuff the '
cados! (and kill the pig, shoot the quail, catch the catfish...all of which was fun.)
One of the neighbors is doing the piggie-pit work. Ash(leigh) did the Quail, and one of our guests is manning the deep-fryer. The chizzcake came from a custom bakery. Our "housekeeper" is doing the rice and broccoli.
The Mariachis have played here often so it's not unusual for them to be guests rather than hirees. One of them brought some VERY expensive Tequila and the little Mexican limes so essential for proper 'Ritas and doing shots.
It's about 60F outside so the heated pool and those big pottery fire thingies are a plus.
For some reason I can't quit VERY subtly flirting with the girl with the fiddle.
I think, not certain, that she returns the interest. BAD YOLI! She looks good in a one-piece swimsuit and sombrero. Sadly, given the makeup of the group, there will be no skinnydipping...:(but I think I can "arrange" to be changing into dry clothes at the same time she is and I'll invite her to use my space to do so.) If I though I'd look so sexy at her weight I'd eat more!
Off to take one more dip, drink 'n eat!

I understand, but during the pre-cooking chat, one of the guests gushed "Ohhhh, so it's like the French stuff with the 'burned'(sic) top? I just luuuuuuvvvvv that!" Soooo...out came the propane torch. Actually, I liked it better that way too. Either way, dinnahhhh was a success. There was one tense moment when I was informed, in a whisper, that one of the wives, married to one of WOBG's relatives, was born Jewish. Hmmmmm...Jewish...Wild Hog...Ruh-Roh! She ate TWO servings.
The Venison wasn't mentioned when listing Le Menu although it was in the pit. That's cause, cooked rather rarish, it'll be used in some fancy sandwiches made for the coastal adventure.

I'm glad to see you are using a real torch to brulee the custard. Nothing sillier than those tiny overgrown butane lighters they sell at cookware stores for more money than a real propane torch from the hardware store. You should try broiling the tops of a couple of dozen ramekins with one of the tiny torches. An exercise in frustration.
I love wild boar and venison but is been years since I cooked any but the farm raised kind. Being a city girl I don't get out hunting often, though there is an informal Trannie Militia, a group of local TSs (several former Navy seals, Green Berets and police officers included) who love to go out into the woods to blast away.
