What is your favorite drink?

Beer, wine, mixed drinks?

My favorite, after a good glass of deep red Syrah, is the Amaretto sour with my custom recipe from the college days.🙏

Wine most of the time. Beer when a friend and I go to a restaurant that has an incredible selection of imports and microbrews. Gin martinis on Thurdays after grand jury duty. If martinis will not get the taste out of your mouth nothing will. Rapes, abuse, drugs and murder oh my. I find that if I crawl under the covers and run a straw to my martini pitcher soon all will be forgotten. My last day of jury duty will be Christmas eve, Ho Ho Ho.

Drank lots in the past... like my present job, so I don't so much anymore, but:

- Beer makes me bloated and full after just 2... but freezing-cold Guinness (only in the tall cans with the 'whizzer' thingy that creates the head) poured into a glass I can drink all night :)

- The Nun has it right. Canadian whiskey with 7up (or coke, if I feel the need) is a great 'maintainer'... one every 45 minutes keeps me in the party and not on the floor!

- My Dad makes his own Irish Cream, with Everclear, real vanilla bean, and cream (and I dunno what else)... that stuff is the only liquor I really (really, really, alot) like.

- My friend just gave me one of his last Beaujelais (sp, i know, i know) Nuveau from last year, so it's my favorite wine right at this moment :D

The next morning beer that has sat out overnight in the aluminum can. You know. The kind where you use your index finger as a kind of seive to keep from drinking the cigarette butts. (Hey, is this the extreme redneck post?)

OhmyGosh....

I picked up the wrong bottle of beer one time and got a couple of butts in my mouth. Reacted immediately... opened my mouth over the coffee table and let it all out, then ran to the sink to suck water from the tap and swish out mouth. Thankfully my hosts found it funny enough to forgive the disgusting display :)

Damn! That's a clever idea to use your index finger to keep the butts out. I've always sieved it through my teeth but the butts taste foul and spoil the beer.

From now on I'll use my index finger.

And this ain't no redneck. It's from extreme poverty in my student days. It was unethical to waste beer.

While my college days were clear back in the Middle Ages, the breakfast of choice was cold pizza and stale beer......

On Paolo's original question: A glass of red wine is my drink of choice. Depending on my mood and depending on the food, the variety will vary. But, most common is a good California Zinfandel.

Other choices are a sturdy Syrah or Petite Sirah (very different wines, despite the similarity of names), or maybe a (slightly) softer Carignane with lighter foods.

I don't drink much Cabernet or Pinot noir, though I generally have a bottle or two of each in the house.

Zinfandel is the perfect turkey wine, and I've laid in a good supply for the holidays.
