Pretty much...

:

Isn't this the mark of a society that has given up thinking for itself and has surrendered all responsibility to the central authority?

The old spirit of rugged independence and practical commonsense has vanished completely. Remember that ultimately the law represents the collective will of the people.

Perhaps it is a symptom of firstworlditis. A new disease that is coming upon as we become more and more technologically advanced (and our cities overcrowded) and we perforce hand over our decision making and responsibilities to some anonymous collective authority.

Some brave new world this is turning out to be. And it's pretty much the same in Europe.
