Carthage
When the Romans conquered Carthage in the Third Punic War and annex the country to the Roman Republic, what was the new provenience called? Hint: the name survives to this day.

Re: Carthage
I recall those battles. Just ask anyone, like River, I'm old.
After the Third Punic War 149-146 BCE ended in a third defeat for the Carthaginians, the city was burned, plowed under, its population put to the sword and their agricultural land salted so heavily that no crop could be replanted for decades or more, it was forgotten about by Rome till 29 CE when Roman Emperor Agustus renames the battle site Colonia Julia Carthago.
If there's humor there, my galloping senility prevents me from seeing it.

Re: Carthage
To MacTheWolf,
You still have not said what the name was. Remember it still is used today.

Re: Carthage
That is right Africa. It comes from the Latin word africanus which means "of africa". The Greeks and Romans called the continent Libia or Libya.
