Im trying to recall the name of a story where a boy named Matty is turned into a girl on his birthday because his parents always wanted a girl.

I do not think there is such a story. I did a Google search for "site:eunuch.org/alpha matty girl birthday" and did not find anything. I also tried the search with "matti" and with "matt" without finding anything. I did a search for "girl birthday" and got 52 results but none of them sounded like what you describe.

I know I read it here, it was a new story around January. The family gives the boy all girls stuff for his birthday and then they put drugs in the cake to knock him out and he's transformed into a girl by his father whos a plastic surgeon.

Well, either it is not showing up on Google for some reason or you have misremembered some of the details. I once read a story on a newsgroup about a cat thet got into a sack and looked at its human until the human flung it around. I misrembered it as the cat getting into a bag and staring at its human. It took me a long time to find the story.

You might want to fool around with the Google site limited search until you find it. Try different words and phrases that you remember. To search for a phrase such as plastic surgeon you need to enclose it in quotes like this: "plastic surgeon".

I do not understand why my first search did not find the story. I searched for: "matty girl birthday" and all those words are in the story. I was able to find it by searching for "matty girl* birthday". Maybe there is something after each of the instances of "girl" that is not visible.
