I am pretty sure that I've violated this rule in every one of my stories so far, and I didn't include an email address, either. I'm curious to know if that means that plix would have thrown them away. He might even throw them away retroactively.

After all, these rules are guidelines of the minimum variety, like lines at the side of the road that show you were you will go crashing and burning into the ditch if you wander past. Following these rules is not a goal to be achieved where getting closer is better: minimum means that anything that does not completely comply is less than acceptable.

In fact, if these are going to be the rules, then my stories should be taken down. I'm making it clear right now that they violate rule 4, so there is no reason why the rules should not be applied retroactively. It might even have happened already, since I didn't give an email address and won't be getting any notification.

Just a small note. Under absolutely no circumstances will a story EVER be 'retroactively deleted', or otherwise removed from the database.

This was one of Bboy's biggest rules, and I see absolutely no reason to change it.

That's good to know. I'm still curious about whether or not plix would have approved my stories. Now that I look at them, they violate rule 4 consistently and repeatedly.

I just don't consider rule 4 to be important (at least, not that part of rule 4), and my writing style causes me to violate it casually and frequently. I can see no good reason to change. (Having my stories rejected here does not count as a good reason.)

I like to think that my stories are worth reading. If plix would have accepted them, then that proves that his so-called minimum guidelines are not really the minimum at all, because he would have let my stories slip in underneath. On the other hand, if he would reject them for that reason, then I need never bother submitting another story.

I dont think the issue is this important, and something worth 10% is being given 400%. Dont worry about it. You write well, I dont know why anyone would have a problem with it.... except maybe that asshole, Mr. Stearns, in High School English (Screw Him - not really, just metaphorically). The essential concern is basic common sense, reasonable effort at grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, reasonable punctuation, an effort at spelling, etc. - you get the idea, I'm sure. I've seen some shit (emphasis on SHIT) submitted that I'd be afraid to wipe my ass with. I have no problem with that stuff being trashed. But look through the archive - there are a lot of folks here who have written some great stories - and they aint Hemingway.

What concerns me is that according to the rules my stories will be tossed out with the junk; at least the stories that I have previously submitted would have been if the rules had been around at the time. I don't know if I want to write future stories that conform to rule 4 as it is written. It seems like writing in a straight-jacked, awkward and uncomfortable. I am sure that I am not the only writer who thinks so.

I actually just think that rule 4 is just a mistake and as soon as plix gets a chance to think about it, that rule will be rewritten.
