Colin, you won't realise now but between #post 17 and #18 there was an additional thread by the Fraj which has been sensibly removed.

It invited readers to a hyperlink with unsavoury content and fabricated photography. I'm glad it was removed but it makes a nonsense of my opening words in the thread which followed in which I drew attention to it. I would appreciate you or others not accusung me of "guilt" when my comment was directed against hatefulness which happily your eyes did not see. Mine did and I was severely offended and I remain so. I do thank the Administrator who removed it. I was entirely right to carp about it.

Everyone is right, the Joke section is not for me.

Incidentally I doubt very much whether The Telegraph would stoop to the level of 'comment' in the opening thread even though I don't read it either.

As far as I can recall the words of the advert to which I am referring, it goes:

"You wake up in your Swedish furniture; put on your Italian clothes; eat a Danish; jump in your German car; drink Belgian beer and watch football on your Japanese TV between teams owned by an American and a Russian, managed by a Portugese!"

If that is not exactly the same sentiment as the original post, then my Senile Dementia is worse than I thought.

I don't know of the advert and I agree that all this has got way out of hand.

It would have been nice had you found time to apologise to me because the only reason I sounded so urgent in wanting this thread shutdown at once was in response to The Fraj's contribution which has been removed; but, being fair to you you didn't see the post. It was an offensive in the extreme and nothing to do with the rest of the thread. Nobody can say that I haven't remained 'on subject'. I know that one Administrator was online when it was posted and I am deeply saddened that no-one has come to my defence on site over this issue.

I know we live in a global village and Brits drive German cars and drink Continental Beers (as well as our own). I have said enough and I am deeply saddened and feel very lonely and isolated and it is all down to the shameful

behaviour of The Fraj by hijacking this thread. When will someone strip him of some karma points for his behaviour here??? I await to see and I am very

fed up.

I only entered this thread at all (if you read my first post (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showpos ... stcount=12)!) to try and say I empathised with you and your feelings that the joke may have come at a difficult time for many Brits. Maybe I guessed wrong? Maybe it is something more personal that is going on right now? I don't know.

I then posted another link to illustrate the not all humour everyone will like. Some may find offensive. In retrospect, it was in poor taste and I'm sorry. But I was ultimately hoping to support your argument that: just because someone finds a joke funny, doesn't justify it being told.

Again, I'm sorry for whatever is going on in your life right now. I really hope you can talk about this, instead of posting in the "humour board" how you "don't find something humerous".

I was only trying to help by saying that you wouldn't have been the only one to find this joke unfunny.

Eunuchs are more prone to ups and downs. It has been a very wet August as you'll know Roger every day so far, after a superb July and June. Then we have the biggest potential crime against people unearthed. We have had the situation in Lebanon.

Roger over a long period your Political threads were both correct and courageous and I thanked you for them; then they turned sour very recently regrettably, (in my opinion). This "Joke" thread indeed caught me at the wrong time when I was particularly sensitive to my feelings about the UK today. I over-reated just a tad and got some very snide feedback. Your posting in response to Huevon's question again made me irate that you had "abused this website" for political purposes in a Joke thread. Your intervention had nothing to do with the general remarks of the thread. Either you or an Administrator binned it.

You came out of the situation smelling of roses with your next posting after my criticism but because your remarks had gone, I was left looking a fool and yet again Colin felt I was being censorious, but the censorship had already been done. My name has been wronged by others here and even people who knew my comments were proportionate fell silent. It has hurt me Roger.

I accept your apology and withdraw my ill felt comment about karma points.

To be honest, the pain contained in some of your recent posts was what caught my attention, and I attributed it to the situation and recent events. Of course... me being me, I jumped to conclusions and, well ... tried to say that "I understood" and (as I usually do! ) made things worse by [opening mouth]->. I'm sorry for that.

But for the life of me, I cannot understand why some people get their bowels in an uproar when stuff like this is written.

I was attacked for the sarcasm about California, then something I did with the English language vs. the Hungarians and then some dude whalloped me when I made fun of the French.

What intrigues me is that I lived in California twice, loved it, would live there again if I could make a living. As for as the language thingie, that is a LINGUISTIC issue which intrigues the hell out of me. If I disliked the French then why I did I live their for two months this summer, supported their economy and studied in their schools to improve my French?

(I am sure someone has an answer).

Yet, I have rarely seen anyone post anything about Texas (other than myself which is no fun, so to speak). And heaven knows there is a LOT of material about Texas!!!

I don't want to give into the whiners and stick in the mud people, nor will I ever, ever, ever be "politically correct."
