Off to Philadelphia

Post by Falcon (imported) »

Well folks, I have a 9:30 AM appointment at Dr. Kimmel's on April 11 to discuss taking the big step. (No, we're not doing the procedure then.) I hope to get info and decide if I'm comfortable with him. I would certainly appreciate any input from Kimmel alumni about your experiences, and about any questions you think I should ask.

At this point, my work schedule makes any actual surgery unlikely until mid summer. (Busy busy busy.)

Thanks !

Terry

P.S. As a bonus, I get to meet some Archive luminaries who are having work done on 4-8.

Hi Terry,

I'm sure there are many of Dr K's alumni here, myself included, and you may get private messages in response to your questions, as well.

Dr Kimmel is very good at explaining things, and he will give you as much information as you can possibly want about castration. After a telephone consultation with him, I made up my mind and set up an appointment for surgery.

He will also give you aftercare instructions that you must to follow to the letter. Please do what he tells you. I erred in one small way by putting ice between my legs for a couple days after surgery, simply because it felt good. At a consequence, my incision closed almost immediately and did not drain. Infectious material that might have exited my body did not, and I developed a nasty fever and an infection in my scrotum.

Six days and many antibiotics later, I showed no sign of recovery and was forced to fly back to Los Angeles in 1st class because I couldn't get my legs together to sit in a coach seat. Needless to say, my local urologist screamed at me when he found I'd been castrated. He also informed me we had to do another surgery. So, three days after that, I was back on the operating table having a second scrotal surgery to clean out the infectious goop and install "dual exhausts" (rubber penrose drains) from which I dripped for weeks. The first "cut" was painful enought; the second was far worse!

So, I'm probably one of the only eunuchs here who was "castrated" twice in close succession. I had to pay for both surgeries and $1000 for a one-way, first class upgrade. My urologist here kept me out of work for five weeks... It was quite an expensive fiasco!

I'm not trying to discourage you in any way, only to share this experience with others who may be considering castration. Know what you are getting into, follow directions to the letter.

Would I go through it again?

ABSOLUTELY, if it were the only path to becoming a eunuch, I would! Getting my body, heart and mind in alignment was of paramount importance to me. Nevertheless, it would have been better had the first surgery been done in proper sterile surroundings.

Would I follow Dr Kimmel's instructions to the letter the next time? YOU BET!

Good luck to you.

I found Dr Kimmel a wonderful man, knows his stuff and will chat with you from start to finish.

As said by Skopztikov, follow Dr Kimmels instructions to the letter. Infections are not fun, I know. In case your wondering, I was the one that did not follow the instructions for after care.

Again, knowing what I know now, would I do it again?

In a heart beat.

I wish you the best, keep us up to date.
