Just for amusement, last night after I got home, I went browsing on the WWW. This is my usual pattern. I arrive home at midnight, spend the next half hour interacting with the cats, take my bedtime pills, then log on to AOL. I check e-mail, visit The Eunuch Archives, read my three newsgroups, and then wind down by surfing. By 1:45 AM I go to bed, spending the next 15 minutes petting Fluffy and Silver as I fall asleep. I wake up around 10 AM or so, with Max joining in as the third cat on my bed. Czarina prefers to remain up in The Loft, seven feet above my bedroom door, looking down on me all night.
Anyhow, I somehow came acroos a web site that allows you to own part of a thoroughbred racing horse. Now if I did have any money, I'd rather buy a share of the gelding Funny Cide. But for your amusement ONLY...

By the way, today (22 April) is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Robert Oppenheimer, more or less the Father of the US Atomic Bomb program, who ran into McCarthy problems in 1954. Still a giant of 20th century physics.

We need a "horse" smiley.

Somehow I missed what became of Conway and Hestia, though I assume Hestia is somewhere, where she is an only cat, and is losing a few pounds.

Hestia was retuned to the care of the vet who is active in TLC Adoptions. It was felt she could do a better job then me on Hestia's weight loss program.
Conway died a few weeks ago, from kidney failure. Well, I had him put to sleep before it became pain or even discomfort. But he was tired all the time. If you have truely bonded with your cat, you will know when they are telling you that the time has come. Conway told me, I listened.
To replace them I adopted two 9 year old cats, Brother and Sister. They had been living together witha good Guardian who died, and the hunt was on for somebody willing to take on two 9 year old cats. Guess who? So that is how Fluffy and Silver came into my life.
Fluffy is an all white female, Silver a silver tabby male. Both castrated, litter box trained, and sweeties.
