I wonder if that is because I am still on AOL 5.0, and most have converted to AOL 9.0?

I have been using AOL 9.0 for about a month now. Haven't had any site problems with either 8.0 or 9.0 except for the horizontal scroll with the current v-bulletin version at first. The screen is ok now and the scroll bars are gone from some, but not all, of the screens. I am using 1280 x 1024 resolution with the lavender screen.

Not for me A-1... not sure what is causing your slowness.

I have been using AOL 9.0 for about a month now. Haven't had any site problems with either 8.0 or 9.0 except for the horizontal scroll with the current v-bulletin version at first. I tried the new "Paolo Gray" screen. It eliminated the horizontal scroll bars and provided a larger screen image. Would it be possible to have this screen resolution in the other screen colors (Purple and Light Blue)?

Being on dial-up is almost worse than having no Internet access at all. At least, if one has no access, there are other things he can do-limited though they may be for some of us Internet junkies-but, on dial-up, my blood pressure would be going through the roof as I screamed at the monitor while waiting for pages to load. Could never go back to 56k. Does anyone else remember when 14.4k was hot stuff?

I remember when a 1200 baud modem was major hot stuff. The place I worked at the time bought one for $800 and thought it was a bargain. And it was only 10 years ago that most of us were limited to 2400 baud connections to the online services like Compuserve and Prodigy.

Ah-ten years ago. I had a 486 dx33 Mhz comp and a 14.4k modem. I had Prodigy and paid $5-6 an hour to connect to AOL. I had another ip which connected me to the Internet, which was all text, except for the binary files which were available on the newsgroups. I spent over $200 a month to play Doom via modem over long distance telephone connections. Definitely not the "good old days." I, too, love my cable internet connection. I could never go back to dial up.
