Well done Sag.

It seems you have a few options open to you now. I'm glad you have a doctor willing to listen to you, it's a rare find these days. Keep us posted on you progress.

Sag, One thought has occured to me which you might discuss with the Urologist. Before I mention it, please remember that in 99.97% of cases or more (!) a Urologist will have the thought processes and ideas on how to improve virility and overcome "problems". So to begin with you have to make sure that his/her mind is tuned into your needs and not his/her habitual programming. You are seeking surgery and not trying to avoid it at all costs, so make that very clear - your supporting notes should make them aware of your decision. Like you I have been a Chemical Eunuch a long time now and I would ask the Urologist, when the atmosphere is friendly, "Is it easier to cut my chords or is it more difficult?" It is a sensible question when you have been on medication for a while I think You want to seek re-assurance on this point.

(Maybe someone can answer that question here?). Quite possibly they might ask you to stop with medication for a short period before surgery, but this might just be a bit of folklore I picked up somewhere.

Maybe the procedure will be much simpler because there has been so much reduction in the size of those chords already? Good luck with your appointment, don't be rushed and I'm pleased to see you are approaching it with confidence. Take good care Sag

Sag,

I do hope you are able to get the surgery. You are a very intelligent and thoughtful person. As you have considered this option for some time I see no reason you should be denied the surgery.

My father was a Doctor and growing up with him I had the opportunity to meet a lot of medical people. I learned that some times for all the things Doctors know they forget we are people as well as patients. You have a good Doctor and I hope the Urologist is as wise. Your confidence in your self is one of the most perswasives arguments your Urologist will hear or see. I have no doubt that what ever happens he will be changed by the experience of meeting you, just as we all have been.

Be Well

Jema

PS: I just found out my browser has spell check. It didnt get every thing though. "perswasives"? Oh well ;-)

Sag,

It sounds like you have managed to find a bunch of understanding Doctors. I did inform my GP about being on Androcur and he did not support my dcission but at least did preform tests to make sure my liver was in OK condition and I was also able to get a Testosterone level test.

Now as for the shrink and urologist I had while in the hospital, neither of them wanted to listen to me and both created more problems by ignoring my concerns. I have since seen 1 other shrink and a counselor that I goto twice a week and so far I have been presistant with wanting it, and have also talked about my interests in body modifications. Nobody wants to listen and respect my wish.

I truely hope you experience is a lot better then mine.

Yeah, I need to start looking around for another counselor and such. But again that is a pain in the ass to do at times.
