I'm trying to obtain dl-lactic acid. So far, three companies have refused to sell to me.

www.sciencekit.com stocks it, but they say on their website that they only ship to educational institutions.

J.T.Baker, a chemical wholesaler, has it, but I've called their MD and VA distributors at http://www.jtbaker.com/asp/distributors.asp but they each asked me what company am I with, and when I said that this was for personal use, they said they don't sell chemicals to individuals.

I wonder if I can lie about my company name, but that wouldn't work if they look up the company's address and refuse to ship anywhere else but there...

I called J.T.Baker directly, with no luck either. Apparently, there's a regulation on US chemical distributors that they cannot sell chemicals to private individuals, no matter what the application, despite DL-Lactic Acid being unregulated. They can't even ship to residential areas, only to businesses that are setup to handle chemicals properly. This last point may mean that adding a fake company name to my home address won't work. I don't have a work address, either.

And here I was hoping this would be simple...

Well, the clock is ticking. I don't have a lot of time left. Despite being age 21, I still live with my parents, and I'm trying to do this without their knowledge. They're gone until next week, though, which means I can do things like receive strange packages in the mail.

I just ordered some "Monoject Syringe with Needle (Puppy/Kitten)" from drsfostersmith.com, which should be here within 2-3 business days.

I'm going to use 2cc of 40% drinkable alcohol (which I already have; probably Scotch) into each testicle. Judging from the other topic, this is going to hurt a lot and require 2-3 injections each. Lactic acid would have been preferable, but since I have doubts about my ability to obtain it especially within this short time limit, this will have to do. What's a little more pain....

It's not a controlled substance. But in this day and age, no company will sell to individuals. YOu need to find a science store, or a high school chem lab or someone who can give you about 50 cc.

I looked up the MSDS for Lactic acid and it's listed as corrosive to skin. that would make anyone jumpy as to why you want it.

And don't take the refusal personnally, they just won't sell to any individuals.

Well you really show use ever clear or voka. But ever clear is not for sale in all states;-(

Pain, there is some but for me I did not need to take any pain mediacation. The number of injections needed and the pain is one of these YMWV things. I did not find the pain to last more than 8 hours then a day or two of swelling.

The current paranoia about terrorists have made companies a lot more reluctant to ship chemicals to individuals. But it is not technically a controlled substance (i.e. like narcotics that can only be used by doctors).

The patents indicate that any WEAK organic acid (like vinegar perhaps) would accomplish the same effect, but I would only attempt a substitution if I knew how their strengths compared and what the body's tolerance was.

Note my recent postings about an improved patented method that uses tannic acid. Tannic acid is available in any good art/craft store as it is used in leather working and in etching.

I checked our inventory at work (it's centralized on a computer) and no one had any Lactic Acid. We had things you don't want to touch your body (bad things), but no lactic. I wanted to see the inventory before I said anything. Sorry can't help.

be careful of sterile conditions, you don't want an infection.
