Removing Stories from the Eunuch Archive

Post by Paolo »

In the last three days, I've received FIVE requests from people who claim to have submitted a story to EA and now want it removed.

Simply put, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Once you submit it, it's ours. Once I release it, it's there.

FOREVER.

(or until a hardware/software disaster eats it!)

Removing a posted story is a nightmare from the viewpoint of the server and runs an extreme risk of crashing the whole database. Just so you know.

I DON'T CARE IF GOD DESCENDS FROM THE HEAVENS WITH A SHOUT AND A BLAST OF THE LAST TRUMPET, TELLING YOU TO HAVE IT REMOVED. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. DON'T EVEN ASK.

Betcha if you really had to do it, you could replace the original file with a dummy file containing one line of text.

Well yeah, and if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts when they hop, either.

I do agree that once posted, a story should not be withdrawn. Disney likes to do that with their stories and I think it's unfair to the readers or audience.

Good policy! But I guess the story "borrowed" stole from CB will be there forever. There should also be a policy about plagiarism, but whatever ...

A list of the stories requested to be deleted would be fun -- they must be something really good. Probably a wife or GF or BF got angry/jealous/etc. and I'd like to really read those. Just an idea.

- CB, the "un-borrowed"

Is it possible to replace a story with an edited version? Recently someone posted a story that I really liked that had quite a few spelling errors in it. I was wondering if I could correct the errors for them and they could re-submit the story and have it replace the version with the errors.

Paolo,

Stick to Your Guns man, any one who posts here is supposed to have read The Rules before putting their stuffhere. It has been that way since I joined back in the Spring of 1997.

hey if frogs had wings they would not bump their butt, but whattabout me, i am a toad. i wrote about 20 stories and i can only find the ones i posted here. they are always here. i never have to wonder when a confidential disk i stuck somewhere is gonna turn up at some embarassing moment somewhere down the line.

Guess what? if you post your stories under another alias, and not the one you log into the EA with, if somebody figures out your online identity, the stories you wrote won't be under that name.

Neat aye?

we need more stories not less. Keep up the good work Captain i love this place.
