*UK warning about fake cutter "GRAHAM"

Hello everyone!

I have been a reader of the archive now since I first connected to the net in 1997 and this is my first time to post. I contacted a member from the archive (he calls himself GRAHAM and the e-mail used for our contact was pickety@lineone.net) and after loads of e-mail exchange, pics and me giving him my mobile number we arranged to meet last Wednesday the 4th june. I got the day off from work, bought a last minute very expensive train ticket from London to Nottingham(Midlands) and there I went to meet the man who was going castrate me after our first meeting or so. Surprise surprise!!! He never went to the station to meet me and there I was like an idiot waiting for the FAKE doctor FRANKSTEIN to show his face. He had my mobile number and never bothered to even message me. I don't want anyone to in the UK to go through what I went last Wednesday, so guys out there be careful with the fake GRAHAM or any other name he start using. Right now he has a message on the board looking for stupid wannabes like me. BTW I message him a few times and he is expecting this message on the board. All the best. Lad4cast

You raise a good issue, Lad.

There is probably more of this going on that ever gets mentioned or posted about.

It can't be stressed ENOUGH to try and get to know someone before you go to meet them. And even though you may feel you know someone online, there's always the chance that you're being led on - or that that someone has been a liar the whole time. It hurts when that happens, as many of us know.

EVERYONE should use extreme caution in situations like this. Make sure that someone knows WHERE you are, when you'll be BACK, and what to do if you DON'T come back on time. Have a plan, and be safe.

And by all means, if someone is leading others on about something like being a cutter, inform the rest of the community.

Sometimes one come comes across a small ad or a message anywhere, about anything and you know it is fishy; or to

mix my metaphors you smell a rat.

The "UK posting" from "Graham" with its demands for photos and personal details I felt was not just a strange posting but I

really doubted its authenticity.

Leading someone on, in any situation is outrageous and to use

a serious forum in this way is an outrage. I hope the posting is removed and the guy with this internet address has all his

aliases here closed down.

I can't think of better advice than to make sure someone knows where you're going and when you'll be back. If you're not comfortable telling someone, leave a detailed note in your home just in case. And tell the person you plan to meet that you are doing so.

Always meet in public, ideally a restaurant or coffee shop. Train stations, bars, etc can be crowded and you can be lost in the shuffle.

Sad that there are so many guys like this out there. I have no problem with guys who just want to stroke to a fantasy, but at least TELL ME THAT.

Well he certainly sounds like a fake- but I notice his phone number IS a Nottingham one- not that I intend trying it!
