I think this is a really interesting subject. Nearly every culture has legends about human like animals and animal like humans. I think it's very human to feel you are an animal or have an animal side or nature. When I was little I took this tail off of my Davey Crocket coonskin cap and had my mom safety pin it to the back of my pants. I very much identified with being an animal. I think I differ from most therin folk in that I don't feel born into the wrong species. Why this is becoming a phenomena now it think has a lot to do with the way the Internet facilitates bring people of like minds together.

The human is an animal in our own right, my totem is the bear but I don't think of myself as a bear. My familiar is a cat but if I could change to an animal and back it would be a bird. However I am just a human and I am having enough trouble being one of them without trying to be something else. So I guess I don't have DSM, having BIID is quite enough thank you.

Does it have to be a single condition or thing?

This would make me having species dysphoria, BIID(penis), gender dysphoria

The species thing started in my childhood. Perhaps I was too hooked onto cartoons and it warped my senses. (90's had a lot of furry toons)

Then again I always was fascinated by cartoons and when I overlapped it with ancient greek centaur mythos I began to fiddle with the internet and voila.

Foxtaur popped up

The website The chakats den popped up and I began reading about foxtaurs and chakats(hermaphroditic feline taurs)

This was all during the seventh grade.

Was also the time I got a PC

NB = My fursona is precisely a grey translady vixentaur.

class garretta type(means im super tiny)

Im glad the archive has furry stories I readily enjoy to revisit from time to time. Keep up the good work

Aye sumtims wundor howe gud thems thar collage perfussurs teachd mea thet thems thar "set theory" ahglomurlayshun.

Purrheps Aye culd aske?

A set of "somethings" that is totally contained with a larger set of "somethings" may be named "a proper subset"?

All animals are a proper subset of the set of all living organisms?

All mammals are a proper subset of the set of all animals?

All humans are a proper subset of the set of all mammals?

All humans are a proper subset of all animals?

All humans are animals?

AND...

The beginning of the ending of the story of humans?

OR...

The ending of the beginning of the story of humans?

I've had several dreams where I became diffent type of animals, and other dreams where I have merged with animals. Most of these dreams are quite fun, but some of them are a little frightening. There was one where a deer came to me bedroom window standing up on two legs. Then he turned into an angry man with a shagy fur coat who was trying to break into my window. I had to chant out loud to make him go away. I must have been chanting for real because when I woke up my cat was looking at me like WTF?
