Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy took to the streets to interview a procession of “Red Army soldiers” in front of the Fox News Channel studios on Monday. Doocy encountered a language barrier when he confronted one actor who answered a question with the Russian negative, “nyet.” “You’re going to knit?” he asked the solider. “Nyet,” the soldier repeated.

On Monday, 40 actors dressed as members of the Soviet military paraded in New York City in order to promote the upcoming premier of FX’s The Americans.

Doocy took to the streets to interview them. He asked one, “when was the last time you were in Moscow?”

“About three months ago,” the Soviet soldier said with a perfect American accent.

Doocy pivoted to another actor who possessed at least a rudimentary knowledge of the Russian language. He asked if they were headed over to Times Square for the second leg of their procession. “Nyet,” the solider replied.

“You’re going to knit,” Doocy asked after a long pause. The actor compounded the confusion by again answering “nyet.”

Doocy pivoted to another soldier and repeated his question about their plans to head over to Times Square. “You work in squares – from Red Square to Times Square?,” Doocy asked. “All the squares, sir,” the solider replied.

Let us remember that Steve "Nyet" Doocey/Doocy started out as the goofy weather guy who joked with the panel and made an ass of himself. The transformation to staid reporter and political commentator has not/nyet gone well for the lad who cannot help reverting to his jerky weather dude days on occasion. In his defense, Fox should have briefed him on what he was about to do. Of course, they may have done so and he lost the information or his marbles or his place on the teleprompter. In the words of esteemed Slide Pianist, Fats Waller, "One never knows, do one."
