Re: Star Wars -- droppings
NO Dave you are right on the money, these are maybe the worst 6 movies I own and watch in blue ray, there is nothing that is not predictable, new, a twist to make you think, none of that and if that was what you were looking for you will be disappointed. However for the pure entertainment in this mind numbing experience.
god, maybe its time to watch them again, I do love this series bad as it is, NO NO its Christmas and I need to watch those Christmas movies again. White Christmas was last night, tonight the Christmas Story, tomorrow Its a Wonderful Life, both copies and then The Bishop's Wife, Classics all. I will save Miracle on 34th street until next week, both of them then I will finish with my favorite Christmas movie, Die Hard.

That was morning before the calming effects of sugar and caffeine.

Never do that, always start by putting out the dog, feeding treats to all while putting on the pot. Feed the fish and get that first cup of the day, after a few sips then turn on the PC.

Jar Jar was what made the movies work. but I understand you not liking him. People either do or don't its one or the other.

Re: Star Wars -- droppings
starwars always had a child elemental twist to it. episode 4 had R2 and C3P0 and the duo are very comical, especially C3P0 getting dismantled, the ewoks are tiny teddy bear alien critters(don't try to counterargue that it wasn't child friendly), the jawas and furthermore Chewbacca
Come on!!!!....I know several kids still to this day who still imitate his wookie noises.
I wasn't shocked when episoide 1 introduced Jar Jar. He is incessantly annoying but that was the point. to appeal to the children. Weren't you dazzled as a child when chewwie came on the the big screen as a kid Sweetpickle?
Older generations argue that episoides 4,5, and 6 were better than 1,2,3 are being critical for the wrong reasons. sure the graphics are better!!!...I mean duhhhh...1999 is gonna have better cinema techniques and CGI really took on post 1996.This was expected.
I can also see why Lucas filmed 4.5. and 6 first. The old republic crumbled when the galactive empire took over. yr's of war destabalized the governments from membering republic planets. the eventual result is that everywhere you look places are gonna look like crummy shitholes bc war does that. War fucks places up. Since the jedi were no more it's easy to film from the perspective of an rookie jedi knight.(if you can call him a jedi anyways. a really bad jedi LMAO)
Lucas was realistic in fact he forshadowed episoides 1,2, and 3 to be more gleamier, more technological and graphic timeline wise.(didn't you notice bobbafett's mandalorian armour in the 5th film?...It's al dented and worn out. Of course one would expect armour to take a beating from all those wars and asigned hitman tasks)
I think he's a genius for setting up the films like this.

Actually not having the CHI it worked better to start with chapter 4, however in the remastered Blueray addition that I have they are not the original movie, things have been added, new scenes, different endings. I have two sets, one old one new, its like the never ending story.

I still love knights of the old republic 1 and 2 the sith lords. the story arc is simply amazing and lots of insight was provided by darth traya. you see the force is an echo abstraction of will that wields every living thing. especially force senstive creatures and beings. it controls the destiny of each individual and that is why she hated the force.
Ever wonder why jedi or sith cant resist the force? its because theyre so drawn to it's power that they are compelled to follow it's flow for good or for evil. it doesn't matter.
when the game "the sith lords" came out it introduced the jedi exile. A female who went with darth revan to malachor 5 (a sith temple where their was a massive concentration of dark side force energy)
A powerful device "the mass shadow generator" was unleashed during the final brink of the mandalorian wars near the outer rim. when the device was turned on. everyone perished except the jedi exile. her jedi force powers were completely stripped from her. Now in the starwars universe. to be stripped of the force means your should not exist. you should be dead.
what happened was entirely new and different to the "jedi exile" she could channel the force but she did not need to become dependent from it. The force could not control her rather she could control the force.
darth traya saw potential with this new symbiotic trend in the force. She saw potential to destroy it at its core and end it once and for all. Of course the jedi council did not like this and the rest you should figure it out. this post is getting rather long but really its a fantastic game.
I'm angry Obsidian ruined it back in 2003 and things were left incomplete and unanswered.
The starwars MMORPG tried to rectify and solve the story arc but I was left with utter dissapoint when my friend played through it. were both hardcore starwars fans btw

Re: Star Wars -- droppings
sorry but last post had the wrong clips. above clips are my fav scenes from knights of the old republic the sithlords. the jedi were pwned here . If there's one mistake jedi make is that they sit in a chamber and stagnate rather than go take immediate action to help others. A proper jedi falls to the darkside only to see the light and be redeemed. you need to fall on your feet before rising back up.something most jedi don't do when they follow the jedi code. they stick to it religiously to the teeth word by word.
that is why I prefered jedi knights such as quigon jin. he was a grey jedi. he was unconventional to the teachings of the flawed jedi order. remember he was never given a position on the high council.
NB = all this talk is giving me a nerdgasm lol

This thread reminds me of a comment a friend made regarding the fanboys at a local comics convention to the effect that, "There were a lot of people showing signs of a misspent youth."
