Language is a tricky thing. It's so easy to say something with a double meaning. I recall once telling a Spanish-speaking friend that I was fixing pene alfredo for supper. She got all embarrassed and flustered, and suddenly I recalled that pene is Spanish for penis. I can just imagine the mental image that flashed through her mind.

I lost my comb at some point and went in a store to tell the pretty young woman that I needed a 'pene' and not a 'peine.'

There is a baked corn in Peru called cancho. At one of my first public tries at speaking Spanish in public, I announced in a restauraant that I like concha. When I lawyer point out that it mean I liked pussy, all I could do is say that it is true.

When you are embarrased, do say you are embarazada. And watch out for the preservativos. They are chewy on bread.

Traps abound when dealing in other languages.
