Re: I Have No Taste in Movies
Oh Starship Troopers. Yea they missed the point of the book. It was an allegory for cold war era USA and how it seemed to be losing its civil liberties, and the actual antagonist of the books was supposed to be the authoritarian earth government.

Re: I Have No Taste in Movies
Waterworld and Postman suffered Kevin Costners major problems.
They get so ? droll ?
Like Dances with Wolves or Wyatt Earp, the Costner effect can notch down any good movie or subject.
I cannot explain it any better.
Question: Does any one know Kevin Costner's early film which left his character on the cutting room floor?
It was a great ensemble cast in their early years. Kline, Hurt, Goldbloom, Berenger, Tilly, Close, but poor Kevin was left on the cutting room floor.

I agree with the above comment of Starship Troopers. I always thought it a fascist expression, back when I was reading Heinlein.
Do we need a separate thread for Fantasy genre films, LOTR
I wonder where they are hiding Star Trek 2009? It sure disappeared off the radar. Never on cable.

I like the original Invasion from Mars more then the remake remember that one Wolfie?

No he wasn't cut out completely. At the very beginning, it is still Kevin Costner's wrists that the undertaker was fitting into the shirt and suit.
And for those of y'all out there wondering: THE BIG CHILL

I like SLAP SHOT but it's got to be the most profane movie about sports ever made.

You see there again, I guess if you read the book the movie sucked.
