Cthulhu hat a bold choice for royal wedding

*On the head of Princess Beatrice, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.
By Helen A.S. Popkin
Given that hats are no longer de rigueur in Western civilization, when the rare occasion for fancy headwear does present itself, why not wear a humanity-noshing sci-fi hat?
Princess Beatrice's apparent gambit, to wear a chapeau representing "a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind" really paid off.
Before Wills and Kate had even shared their reluctant micro-kiss, Beatrice's Cthulhu hat already had acquired its own Facebook page with more than 5,000 fans. By 1 p.m. ET, it was closing in on 10,000 devotees.
This is no great surprise, considering the cosmic entity Cthulhu, originally depicted in H.P. Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu," is worshiped by a worldwide doomsday cult.

Dave, that was not the only ugly hat there today, and many of them looked like they were pasted to the gals forehead rather then on there head. Actually I thought they looked kinda stupid.

There are hats and there are what I think is called a "fascinator" which is what Beatrice had on.
And yes, there were ugly hats. Oh lordy were there ugly hats. But remember, we're both men and we wear the same black hats our grandfather's wore.

I say Dave, I rather prefered the description of strikingly like a uterus and Fallopian tubes.

IN PANIC and BLUSHING
I didn't say that. It was the article that said it. I thought some of the "fascinator hats" were awful but hey, I'm a guy who thinks black jeans are dress-up.

Re: Cthulhu hat a bold choice
You gentlemen simply don't get women's hats. At this level of formal dressing, the whole point of women's dresses and even more women's hats is to be outrageous. Their whole point is "Hey, look at me!" It's just "women on the red carpet at the Oscar's" carried to an even more illogical extreme. Relax and enjoy the absurdity of it on a pretty girl. For more of the same go look at the UTube videos of French high fashion shows.
