THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO -- (a second time) - In Swedish and an excellent story. I hope the American version is this good.

The english version is excellent. Very enthralling flick.

In the spirit of things....

The A-Team: I wasn't expecting much going into this movie, but somehow still felt disappointed. It was ok as a generic action flick, but did anyone honestly really care how they got together? There are some stories that don't need an origin movie. This should have been one of them.

Tron: Legacy: Glorious special effects, looked sweet and slick in 3-D. I'm mixed about the story though. I'd give it a thumbs-up overall, especially after watching the original. There's a reason Disney didn't release a special edition of the first movie for help promote the sequel.

Megamind: The OTHER superhero movie of last year. I tend to be a sucker for the computer-animated movies as well, and really liked this one. I'd say it's absolutely worth a watch. If for nothing else than the pokes at traditional superhero themes and battles.

Red: Yes, it's an action movie. Yes, it has Bruce Willis. (No idea what's with the hate for him, BTW.) However, any movie that can get Dame Helen Mirren wielding a machine gun alongside Morgan Freeman and a completely whacked-out John Malkovich is worthwhile.

Daybreakers: Tired of vampires that sparkle? This may not be a traditional vampire flick, but it's a very entertaining take on the idea.

And last, while it's not a movie, and it's an American remake of a (very fine) British TV series, I have to admit I'm growing to like Being Human (US). It's not exactly following the same path as the original, but I think it stands a chance of at least lasting out the season, and possibly even making it into a second one as well. It'll be more interesting to see what happens as they break more and more into their own.

done with the French actress Audrey Tatou is great (except for possibly Coco Before Channel). It is really worth the trouble of reading the subtitles if you don't understand French, really, rent the movie "Amelie" and you will be hooked, then get "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not," or "Priceless," you won't be disappointed.

I think that the last 3 movies that I've seen in the cinemas were really good. There was the incredible Black Swan (perhaps Portman is the American/Israeli version of Tatou, or vice versa), the mind blowing Inception, and before them both the high octane action-espionage caper Salt (Jolie). Highly recommend them all.

My favourite film of all time is A Few Good Men. Love the dialogue.

I really liked A FEW GOOD MEN for several reasons.

a) I'm a sucker for courtroom dramas and for good reasons. A courtroom is a dramaic place. AFGM was a stageplay for many years before it was a movie. That gave the screenwriter a chance to understand the rythyms and dramatic points in what is basically actionless words.

b) it is a fight for justice in the best sense of the word.

c) they filled the roles with good actors that brought everything to their characters.

Then, may I give my strong endorsemnt to the "12" movies?

First, I think it was first at least, there was "12 Angry Men." The one with Henry Fonda.

Then, there was a remake of that film, with Jack Lemmon, sadly, not up to the original in my opinion.

BUT THEN... There is a RUSSIAN language version of the "Twelve Angry Men" story. I believe the U.S. release is titled simply "12." It is worth the rental.

i had seen red mentioned here earlier. hadn't seen it before. i wanted to see it in theatres and i remembered seeing the previews but i guess i had just forgotten about and it almost slipped through the cracks. so we rented it today and watched it over dinner this evening. both the wife and i LOVED IT. im sure being a gun nut (ehhem......gun enthusiast) helped but it was cool funny quirky, had a romantic element decent acting and a great cast. especially loved that hot guy that played agent cooper (Karl Urban) but for reasons other than his acting talent mmmmmmmmmmmm. two thumbs (and something else) way up. thanks for the idea

I'm watching this and it's a lot of bang-bang, chase em up, blow up things big time - fun!

Nice action flick with a sense of humor. A bit mindless but still enjoyable.
