Remake of I Spit On Your Grave

Post by SplitDik (imported) »

Coming out in September. I doubt it will be a good movie, but it looks like it will have castration with rusty shears by a hot woman so can't be all bad.

I got a copy of the original last year with commentary by Joe Bob Briggs, very funny movie critic/host on The Movie Channel and I think TNT at one time too.

He likes to rate movies by number of bare breasts, acts of violence...he narrates the entire original..very funny if you like his humor.

While I don't want to judge this movie unfairly without having seen it or giving it a chance, My own personal experience watching movies is that remakes usually fall far short of the original. I've seen the original "I Spit On Your Grave" and think it was very well done, a classic of that type of movie.

But like I said, in most cases remakes fall far short of the original. The original of a lot of movies just has a certain something that can never be found again, and remakes usually miss the mark.

Kind of like a movie made over some novel. You read the book and enjoy the book, then you see the movie and somehow the movie is disappointing compared to the book. The same is often true of seeing the original movie then years later watching the remake.

I agree, remakes have, for the most part not lived up to the originals. Might be how our minds work and how watching the movie for the first time ingrained or etched itself into/onto our brains. Once something is etched into our brains we tend to hold onto it sentimentally and so nothing can measure up to it. That's just my opinion, but on the other hand, most remakes, take the more recent remake of the Wicker Man, just don't live up to the original. I didn't like the remake of the Wicker Man at all, somehow it just didn't measure up to the original.
