5400 text messages

Post by Dave (imported) »

I hate to say this but one of my cousins (15 year old boy) sent 5400 text messages last month.

5400! no mistake. ๐Ÿ™„

30 days times 12 awake hours a day times 15 messages each hour.

Do you think that's too many? Just a few too many? What gave you the clue it's too many?

5400? ๐Ÿ™„

Sounds like time to get back to the art of letter writing. I think we will be seeing in a few decades an increased number of arthritic thumbs.

Come to think of it at 15 I could never text that much. I would have been too busy masturbating

Tell me about it!

My son is also seriously afflicted with this insane "texting" thing.

Last week, he got in trouble at school, so his mother took his cell phone away until he got the trouble cleared up. Oh my GOD! The boy was actually going into "withdrawal" symptoms. Only a few hours after losing his phone, he comes to me all glassy eyed ready to CRY! He just had to have that phone so he could send a text message.

I just don't know. I suppose a texting obsession is a lot better than some things he might otherwise be into, but damn!, it is difficult for me to see him so wrapped up in that damn cell phone all the time.

OK< here is what you do, you don't take the phone away from him, that would be wrong. You make him get a job and pay for the phone. It will cure a couple of problems, one he wont be texting as much because he will be working and when he gets the bill he will cry.

Then will come understanding.

All I can say is wow. He surely gets sore thumbs.

And letting him pay all the costs is the best cure.

I remember that after 5-th message a day the usual answer was - call. it's cheaper.

On the other hand... I more than once had reached the limit for the legth of a single phone call (50 minutes)...

Before I retired, it was common for the Division to get 20 people in a room and do a telephone conference with the other office (20 people in a city 60 miles away). Talk about ugly phone calls.

Then there were the bosses who used to call the offices around the people they wanted and ask you to search the bathrooms for the others.

Then there were the cell phones, beepers and walkie talkies that acted like a leash on employees who were SUPPOSED to be more valuable than common workers.

Then there were the sore shoulders from the shape of the handsets. It's not bad enought I have a screwed up rotator cuff, but the phone aggravates it.

I hate phones. Despise them. Well not the phone itself but the moron bosses, the suck-ups, the weasels who used them at work.

(oh that was cathartic and felt so good!)

The Phone,

An item we gladly pay for, spend lots of money on so others who you may know or most likely people you don't can call you and interrupt you from doing something important, like eating dinner, cooking your dinner, watching the TV news hour, a football game, yes, we pay for the privilege to have someone else bother us.

I have a cel phone, two people know the number, that might be one to many.

The annoying thing about text messaging culture is that I come upon soo many new acronyms nowadays, that I really have no idea per their meaning. lol... Like OTP -- is this kind of thing really common knowledge?
