Slow Down. ? S.A.D. in action ?
Okay, I probably rank champion member without a life.
That acknowledged I have noticed a real slow down on mental exchange here these last days. Is it S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) aka Holiday Blues or other members do have personal lives.
I wonder.
Any enlightenment?

Yes! All of the above. Typical this time of year.

The doctor's solution - pre-teen kids and a menopausal wife in your life.
Take my wife - please.

Too many holiday events and things too do...
Today was the last subscription concert for the Pittsburgh Symphony for this calendar year and they played the Mozart Requiem. That is an exceptional piece of music, sad and yet beautiful beyond any words I could put to paper.
S.A.D.? bah humbug to that... Get out and enjoy the world.

Arab, that's called, "a life". My "life" decided to become schizophrenic, alcoholic and compulsive behaviors. I had to ship her off to her parents as I could not handle that life. No digestion. I send money.
Dave, hard for an agoraphobic. Home is so safe though lonely.
Also, our Southern Hemisphere members do not seem to get Holiday Blues
if I remember an earlier thread accurately.

That which is beautiful to our minds, our eyes, our ears, assaults us at this time of year.
Even if you are not religious (as I am not) there is something special, intrinsic, about this time of year. The end of Autumn. The beginning of Winter. The stormy time. The frozen time. Things slow down. We reflect. We wonder. We imagine.
Every season is beautiful. Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn.
Enjoy the seasons. Enjoy the special wonderful opportunity to be here, now, on planet Earth. It is so special. So beautiful. So wonderful. Enjoy it.
Maybe that IS why we are here. To enjoy, to appreciate, that which has taken over three and a half billion years to form. Wow. !
Our personal problems, aspirations, failings, hopes, achievements, just absolutely pale in comparison to what planet Earth has been through.
For millions of years Earth was one big giant ice ball, frozen in one complete total glacier. Had it not been for volcanic eruptions we might not be here today. In any event, regardless of WHY, just enjoy, just appreciate ! It won't last long !!!!!!!!!!

I enjoy winter more than ever before. Late night walks after a fresh snow. I like the sensation of cold against my skin. I like the slow paced days of winter. I like not being so damn hot.
Then the rebirth of spring. The aromatic blossoms and the new buds on the trees. Before long the snow melts and the earth is uncovered to awaken another year.
I wonder if we would have less S.A.D. if we did not muck up the time with christian holidays.

Having been born and raised in LA and living most of my life in California, being here in Wisconsin is a wonderful change.
It is snowing right now, another white Yule something I never had in California. In Calif. snow is something you go to, to play in, here it starts at your front door. I love the snow, its pure white, fresh, clean, a new beginning.
When I was a kid I always felt sorry for kids that lived in this clime, they could not go out and ride there new bikes etc. Today I feel sorry for kids that don't have snow this time of year.

I do not want to seem out of step with the rest of you happy folks, but I absolutely detest the "holiday season."
Maybe it is this "Seasonal Affective Disorder" (S.A.D.) that is so talked about now, but I do not think so. Whatever the cause, I do really hate the time from about the first of November until sometime in March - after Valentine's Day is over with.
I believe that the reasons I hate the holiday season are dreadfully obvious.
-the INSANE pressure to buy buy buy more and more JUNK to pack into our already crowded lives.
-the traffic, and crowds, horrible here in my home town.
-the Salvation Army bell ringers.
-putting up the Christmas tree, and catching hell for everything wrong with the way things are with it.
-etc. etc. etc....
I could go on and on but I don't want to bore you anymore.
Suffice to say, I hate the commercialized Christmas we get these days.
