Overheard today...
The cash for clunkers program was a rousing success. It took 600,000 Obama bumper stickers off the road.
Hey, I'm an Obama supporter; and I thought it was funny.

Re: Overheard
What's funny are the cars they wouldn't take.
Read a story on CNN about a guy with a rotted out Chevy van, diesel, got like 12 mpg, rattled, smoked, filthy, loud, looked like hell...it was 1 year too old for the program. But - it runs to this day, and he drives it, blowing smoke, wasting oil and gas, and slamming the CFC program the whole time.
Wish I'd kept the link.

You must draw the line somewhere, I think it was 10 years. Maybe there should have been a second cash for rust buckets, cars over 10 years of age, $1000.

Neither of the vehicles around my place would qualify ('96 Dodge Caravan,'99 Chev Lumina) - The fuel consumption of both is too low for the program. On the other hand, the original post on this thread made me laugh out loud. --FLO--

I'm glad my truck was on it. It's worth more than the $4,500 I'd jump in bed with a car dealer and the government for...yeah right! But all those clunker trucks are gonna be sold out the back door to wrecking yards and guess what? A whole lotta cheap parts for years and years to come.

Re: Overheard
ALRIGHT!!! More cars for the demo (demolition derby)! -Got to keep those things going somehow. One of my cars would qualify for a subcompact demo (which there aren't many). It even has a red driver's side door on a shit-can brown car otherwise known as the "dumpster vehicle" -1980 Corolla. And my aunt has the "Old Kadewba", a Chrystler Cordoba that can probably hold it's own. I love demolition derbies!!! I don't care what anybody says, they are good for America.

Re: Overheard
speaking of the post above... I still can't decide if I should feel guilty or not for the way I sold my last car.
It was a worn-out, over-heating waste of a Firefly. Told the guy it had sat, untouched, for two years, and yet the darn thing started when we tried. He wanted it for use as a demolition-derby car!! A FIREFLY !? Said he would put a roll cage in it and it'd be hilarious.
Well it was... everyone laughed their butts off when he creaked that cars' old bones into the derby yard, only to get turned away, due to no demo-derby organization in their right minds allowing such a car in one of their shin-digs
)
He gave me 350 bucks for it, too; about 300 bucks more than it was worth :p
