Hormone test results

Post by Dana Lane (imported) »

I'm not sure how to read this but the results show:

Estradiol pg/mL X 3.67 = pmol/L Result: 7.0

Scale 3.1 to 7.4

Progesterone pg/mL X 3.18 = pmol/L Result: 839

Scale 141 to 549 (way over the top)

Testosterone pg/mL X 3.47 = pmol/L Result:173

Scale 110 to 513

This test was from about 3 weeks ago. Can anyone tell me what the results mean? Any help is appreciated.

On most test results there should be some guidance given for "normal range", or they will at least flag anything out of range as "low" or "high". Didn't your results give that info?

Hi Bridgette,

The scale for each test would be the normal range for each one of the hormones that were tested. In other words, your Estradiol level of 7.0 would be on the higher end of the range of what would be considered normal.

The valves stated in each one of the scales will change depending on whether the test was conducted on you as a female verses a male. That would depended on the gender that was marked on the test report.

I hope this helps. :)

I was tested as a female. I think I am more confused now than ever. :)

Edit: I was tested as Male. They sent me the PDF with my name and the word Female on it but I was actually tested as Male.

So if I read this right my T is getting fairly low and my female hormones are high for a male. Should I try to get tested as female next time? Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Bridgette,

I would definitely get tested as a female next time. Being tested as female will change the range of the scales for each hormone type and will give you a more accurate reading of where your levels are at in relationship to a woman's normal levels.

Yes, you are correct. Your T is getting toward the low end and your estrogen is at the high end for a male.

Cool, thanks for the advice. When I ordered this kit I really didn't know what I was doing. Since I started using Sandrena Gel a couple of weeks ago I think I will wait for about a month and do the female check. At least for now I know I am getting close to getting out of the 'male measurements'. :)

Hi Dana, Bridgette, (and Erica Ann)

i have recieved my test results back today and asked for both male and female ranges, so i had both, to compare. the actual test i believe is merely (well more complex than merely, but i am sure you know what i mean) assessment of the level of a particular hormone in the sample. There is no difference at this point to being tested as Male or Female, just as a living human.

The real analysis is how the result fits on the scale of things.

So , it becomes relevant, for the sake of comparison, to have both ranges.

I have put details of my Lab's ranges in a post I have just put up on the board.

It may help you

Hope it does,
