Edge of Tomorrow is a Sci-Fi movie with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
The setup is that a meteor brings a race of aliens and they are taking over the earth. They have all of Europe and the humans are going to invade in one huge push. Now the Sci-Fi twist is this, William Cage (Tom Cruise) person is merely. Somehow he pisses off a general and gets sent to the front lines. He rather quickly dies in the giant invasion but as he does, he gets alien blood on him and the day resets. It takes him a little while to figure out what is happening and what he has to do.
It turns out that the Alien Alpha that controls all of the aliens can control time and resets each loss to a day before and then tells the other aliens how to win. So now Cage finds himself teamed with Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) in a multi day search for this alien. She once had the same power as he did and lost it. The time resets are ingenious and no one day mimics another day. That would be terribly boring in a movie. There must be close to 150 or so time resets. We don't see all the time resets but it is obvious that they are occurring. Eventually Cage and Rita go after the Alpha alien and all sorts of plot twists occur.
This is a better story than I thought it was going to be. The way it fits together works well. The end is satisfying.
