The chief end of Man is making babies, apparently. The whole planet has to be run down the toilet in order to satisfy the ladies' lust for babies.
There's a good premise for a castration story if there ever was one. Probably been over-used, come to think of it.
But seriously, the Man-made world expands and the Living World contracts. It's a zero-sum equation with the Living World getting the shit end of the stick. Not to mention the enslavement and immiseration of billions caught in the lower echelons of the whole huge global-spanning civilization mega-machine.
I'm a very bitter guy. Heh.

I will say this, I have both a cat and a dog, the cat I have had sense he was 8 weeks old, the dog was a rescue when she was 6 years old, they are both now 9 years old, both in good health, both get along, both tag team me when they want something. Its not all the cat, and yes they have been known to sleep in the same chair at the same time next to each other. I know they plot against me I have seen it in their eyes.
As different as cats and dogs are, they are on the same team.
