Epiphany is on 6 January.

I just found out that my friends know I am gay. I thought I was safely in the closet.

A friend gave me a Christmas present. A pair of nice earings with a double mars symbol on them. She has sat next to me many hours while I worked to fix her computer or tried to teach her how to do domething on it. It was a kind, unexpected and touchingly thoughtful gift.

I had both my ears pierced years ago when it was still a mostly gay statement, then I got out of the habit of wearing them when I moved back to my home town. Now I realize that most people just take it for granted that I am gay and accept me without judgement.

Maybe it's time to come out to my family.

Good, but my guess is that your family has known for years. I remember when my brother finally told me he was gay, it was after our father had passed. He said, "you know I am gay, right?" I was 38 years old, I said, "yes Russ, I have known sense I was 15." I guess it was something he was not sure about talking about but to me it made no difference at all, he was my big brother, him being gay did not matter one way or the other.

Tell them, they most likely already know and out of respect for you have never said anything.
