This is a tough one! So many great songs, but my number 1 has to be the full version of "American Pie" by Don McLean. It speaks on so many levels and addresses so many issues of the time. My number 2 is really tough, as picking it means I have to exclude a lot of exceptional songs, but I'm going with "Bat Out of Hell" by Meat Loaf. Dude could wail in the 70s and 80s!
Runners up would have to be "It's a Long Way to the Top" by AC DC (a bangin' tune with bagpipes??? how can it not be on the list?), Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years" or "The Trooper," and I can't forget "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Ryder. I need to stop now or I will be here all day adding more runners up!
