as I said. was not using anything previously an total t was 31 and free t was 4. Effectively an Eunuch, which, some may enjoy the calming acceptance of being submissive to anything & everyone but I missed being horny. it was like I knew what a good steak tasted like and wished I could enjoy a good steak even though I was not hungry to steak. same with erections, sex, playing around & orgasms. Missed the experience very much.

You can also purchase "compounded testosterone" in a cream form, from several Apothecaries, Pharmacies, but you'll still need a prescription. The good thing a bout compounded testosterone is that it's cheaper then the "other gel" and works just as good. $50. $60. bucks for a months supply.
I guess the compounding might even be cheaper outside the USA. My 3-month supply costs $97 in Canada. I get reimbursed 70%, or $68, thus costing me out-of-pocket about $10/mo.

You guys have it easy with getting T, here in Aus, it is very strictly controlled and the doc has to get an authorisation # from a governing pharma body before he can issue a script,. but then the script is good for the initial supply and 5 subsequent supplies. My Axiron costs me A$33.00/month

A bacterial infection destroyed my testes ability to produce testosterone. More on that if you review my blog. I was prescribed Androgel.
Fortunately my medical coverage covered most of the cost; $30 a month, until I enter the drug coverage "donut hole", then the cost jumps up to $183 a month. Last year to save the expense I stopped using the Androgel. I went through what I guess was withdrawal symptoms from Testosterone. My next scheduled blood test indicated my "free testosterone" was at 4. I felt a new kind of calm I had never experienced. That part was nice. My penis shrank and I was not interested or able to get an erection. That part did not bother me, however long term factors like osteoporosis and muscle loss are a concern so this year I will pay for the Androgel.
Due to FAA regulations you can not carry Androgel on an airplane in either carry on or checked baggage. I will be on an extended trip this year that will last over a month. I will be unable to take the Androgel with me. Thus I am asking if anyone knows of any alternate source of testosterone that can be carried on board an airplane.

Did something really change in the last 3 years? (This thread on reddit discusses it:

Also, here:
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/special-procedures it says that medications are exempt from the limits for liquids.

FAA does not restrict a prescibed medication... I'm on injectable and if I'm going for a week somewhere ... I fill the syringe with my dose and place it in a toothbrush holder and even put in carry on... it just needs in be in a 4 oz container or less. so if you have a pump buy the travel container like shampoo and put some in that...

Can you provide more information on what the bacterial infection was and what caused it?

Opinions & Self Perception apparently varies per individual for Hypogondalism. Reading your post describing {a new kind of call]. I would describe my emotional state without HRT as Apathetic. Not having the will or [balls] to care even in a contentious situation. Sexually, emotionally I grieved the loss of desire but for a long period of time did not seek treatment. Interesting that in situations where a physical liaison was possible I avoided intimate contact because it did not feel good or exciting even though I remembered the pleasurable intensity of sharing body & soul with someone you care/love. Speaking of penis shrinkage, I too had a lot of shrinkage and after starting HRT i began using a penis pump to stretch my penis for several hours usually three to five hours at thirty to forty five minute intervfals for several month. eventually my penis returned to its original length and I think it may be a little longer. Definitely longer when soft compared to before all this began. for me the greatest difference is energy level and my activity level. the downside if it is a downside is I am horny all the time even when I am drained of fluids and unable to achieve an orgasm , sometimes with great effort have a dry orgasm when releaves the need feeling even though the orgasm during times like that are weak contractions compared to normal orgasmic contractions. so i agrree with you of less needful feeling without testosterone but the desire to be a sexual creature for me out weighs the calm you described . I guess I am mentally hard wired for sexuality due to even with out testosterone I desirer & miss physical sex even though my body was unable to and would not respond to physical, emotional or visual sexual stimulation. Interesting and somewhat unsettling that a few cc's of a hormone each month can affect, actually change a person's mind, emotional choices related sexual situations.

Two things: 1. I have blood work every 6 months. My doctor says that for some reason that is required for renewal. And the prescription is only good for 6 months. I don't mind it because I don't have to fast ;like I do for other meds and I get to do some shopping by myself.
2, I have flown and hand carried my meds, including Androgel (when on it...now on Fortesta) and had no problems. My reason for hand carry of meds is because of temperature restrictions on some of them and in the check baggage, it wold be below the temps recommended....especially on a long flight.

My doctor also told me by U.S. FDA regulation an Androgel prescription can only ve written for 6 months as testosterone is in a drug class of controlled substance because of the risk of abuse and misuse. And the 6 month blood test isrequired to renew the prescription, to document continued need for the drug, to avoid abuse or misuse of the drug.
I have yet to travel by airline while carrying Androgel.
