Episode 6 just started.
I'm not going to say anything other than the man with the eyepatch has returned.
added about an hour and a half later-- David Morrissey who plays the Governor is British. Just like Andrew Lincoln (who plays Sheriff Rick Grimes) is British.
I don't know if anyone knew that.

I'm a big fan too (not too many spoilers please in case am not up to date!). For me the fear factor is more about the collapse of civilisation with the zombies almost as incidental. The living people are the most dangerous (eg the Governor types), and take away the zombies and you see how horrific the collapse of society would still be. Of course there would be mobs of 'zombies' to some extent - a starving mob would be a terrible thing to behold, no fear, nothing to lose and absolutely without mercy. Don't forget that when there is literally nothing left to eat, people will eat people - those would be the 'zombies'. A premise that is utterly terrifying and perhaps too shocking to make into a drama, hence they dress it up with zombies so that we can say "Well, that would never happen......."

THE WALKING DEAD above all things isn't about the disaster or how the zombies came to be. It isn't about rebuilding society as we know it.
It is about the details of building a new world on the ashes of the old world.
It is about the survivors who will soon be the Walking Dead if they aren't already simply waiting for death.
Episode #7 "DEAD WEIGHT"
"What's that you say, Governor?"

Here is my view of the current season. No Governor to be found. Then they spend several episodes trying to cure the common cold. After that they spend some time focusing on where the Governor is, and now next week it looks like they are going to have a mid-season finale much like the last season finale.
I'll stick with it, but the show is getting rather boring, predictable, and really not going anywhere. I hope in the last half of the season that it picks up.

Episode 8 - "Gone to Far"
The mid-season finale. Last show until next February.
No comments other than "Damn! now that's a finale!"
Almost anything I say would be a spoiler.
Added late:
It is interesting to note that Scott Wilson who plays Hershel in Walking Dead had his big break in movies staring with Robert Blake as one of the psychopathic killers in the film of Truman Capote's IN COLD BLOOD.

I'll sum up the last episode (and nearly every episode since season 1) for you.
Lots of Zombies, lots of slashing, lots of screaming, someone gets in an argument with someone else, a car drives really fast somewhere with a bunch of leaves blowing around behind it, resources are scarce, Rick has some sort of crisis of conscience, Carl shoots something, Darryl puts an arrow in someone, Michonne stabs one or two people with her sword along with a whole army of zombies, a zombie shows up randomly at some point/place they shouldn't and tries to eat a small child or other helpless person, a small group gets in the Hyundai and goes on a supply run, Maggie and Glen fuck like rabbits but you don't get to see it, and Hershel cures the common cold.
That about sums it up.

The WALKING DEAD is back for the second half of Season 4. This is Episode 9 "After."
No spoilers but it's a very lonely episode
Carl is swearing like a real man.
There are hints at what happened to Michonne that ought to shrivel your short and curlies into nightmares.

They are rotting and becoming darker, thinner, more skeletal. They even talk about one of the zombies being weak.
But it is not like the movie 28 DAYS where the zombies die in that length of time, these zombies might take years to die and don't forget that those who merely die also become zombies. THat was the great secret from the Atlanta CDC visit in the first year -- everyone is infected with this virus--living or dead.
And I came back to add…
This episode occurs over two days. That's not a long time for zombies to live. And not a long time to tell the story in the episode…
I haven't thought deeply enough to figure out how long it has been since the outbreak.
I have the impression that from the first show until this episode is two years. I say that because Ranger Rick wife had to get pregnant by Shane when they were separated. So maybe one, two or three months for Rick to find his wife and son, 9 months for pregnancy, and the baby seemed to be 6 or so months old when the prison was attacked. That could be a few as eighteen months for all four seasons.
